**Help Bring Relief to Those with Irlen Syndrome**

Julie Yaxley, Clinic Director at the Krist Irlen Clinic, is raising funds to support low-income clients who need specialized tinted lenses to manage Irlen Syndrome—a visual processing condition that can make everyday tasks painful and exhausting.

Irlen Syndrome occurs when the brain struggles to process certain wavelengths of light, overstimulating the visual cortex. This can cause light sensitivity, headaches, migraines, eye strain, trouble with depth perception, concentration difficulties, and even visual distortions when reading or using screens. Tinted lenses—customized for each individual—can significantly reduce these symptoms by filtering light in a way that calms the brain and improves visual clarity.

Unfortunately, Irlen testing and treatment are not covered by medical insurance. That’s why this fund exists: to help cover 50% of the cost for diagnostic sessions at the Krist Samaritan Center (Houston/Galveston area) that identify the correct tint for each client.
