Just got back from a trip where I did a lot of socializing, eating great food, and enjoying the moment… but what I didn’t do is take care of myself. By the end of the week, I could feel it. It was a good reminder that the things that help us feel like ourselves - movement, a little quiet time, caring for our bodies - are worth making space for, even when life gets busy.

I caught myself recently comparing my body today to my younger body - the stronger, more flexible version of me. A mentor offered a perspective I hadn’t considered before: imagine what shape you’d be in if you weren’t doing all the work you’re doing. That idea stuck with me. Read more in my latest blog.

Functional yoga isn’t focused on performance or picture-perfect poses.
It’s focused on supporting real bodies and real lives.
The goal isn’t extreme flexibility or strength-it’s:
• moving with more ease
• feeling stable and confident
• staying independent
• continuing to do the things you love
This approach meets you where you are and builds what you actually need.
That’s the heart of my classes.

As I get older, the physical stuff shows up more often.
Little aches. New pains. Slower recovery.
What I’ve learned is this: I don’t stop moving.
I might slow down.
I might change how I move.
But I don’t shut it all down.
Movement looks different now than it did years ago — and that’s not a bad thing. I listen sooner, adjust earlier, and move in ways that help me stay connected to my body.
So I’m curious…
When something shows up in your body, do you stop completely?
Or do you find ways to keep moving right where you are?
That’s a dot I keep coming back to.

Push-ups aren’t all-or-nothing. They’re built step by step. Let's get started this week at the wall. We'll gradually build strength that supports everyday life. Over the next few weeks, try to perform 3 sets 2-3 times. As we get stronger, I'll post additional videos with more challenging push up variations 💪

I’m excited to share an article I contributed to that’s very close to my heart.
After a bike accident in 2024 left me with a broken pelvis and collarbone, my own yoga practice (and teaching) changed in profound ways. As I healed, I relied heavily on chair-supported movement, which deepened my understanding of what truly accessible yoga can offer.
That experience inspired me as I began to teach again, and shaped the guidance I share in this article.
In it, I offer five chair yoga stretches designed to support:
• Balance
• Posture
• Strength and confidence
• Safer, more accessible movement
Chair yoga isn’t “less than.”
It’s smart, supportive, and incredibly effective - especially for anyone with limited mobility, recovering from injury, or simply looking for a gentler way to move.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how hard it is to be a beginner. My latest blog is about a small moment that reminded me why starting where you are isn’t a weaknes, it’s where learning actually begins.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, here’s a quiet reminder:
love doesn’t only move outward.
It gets to be practiced inward, too.
Yoga can be an act of self-love.
Not the loud, performative kind;
but the steady, patient kind.
The kind that listens.
That chooses gentle movement and slower breath.
That knows rest can be productive.
That allows you to soften instead of push.
You don’t have to earn care.
You’re allowed to choose it.
This week, consider letting your practice be a way of saying:
“I’m paying attention.”
“I’m taking care.”
“I matter, too.”

I chose a word to start off my year. Not a goal. Not a resolution. Just a word to guide me. For 2026 my word is accept.
Acceptance isn’t giving up. It’s telling the truth about where you are, and moving forward from there.

I have spent most of my life not listening to my body. The last several years have been about learning how. Check out my new blog about that journey. About the body you wake up in, and the body you create through how you move and pay attention.

I teach yoga for all – the strong, the weak, the flexible, the inflexible, the balanced, the not so balanced. I dedicate my time to helping people feel their bodies. My classes are a blend of yoga, balancing, stretching and strengthening.
I believe in the power of yoga as a tool for personal transformation. After spending years struggling with back and neck pain, I found yoga and it has helped me build strength and flexibility where there wasn’t much of either. Yoga has helped me cultivate healthy relationships and manage life stress better.
I want to help others be active longer, so they can enjoy life as they continue on their journey. I love being a part of the Houston yoga community, learning and sharing along with my teachers and students.
My husband and I are raising 2 teenage sons. We currently have two non-human family members, dog Bear and lizard Hobbes.
I completed my teacher training in June 2017. I have studied extensively in Houston, TX with Rachel Tenenbaum of I Am Living and Andrew Royal Dugas, founder of Yoga Better.
