"Our students are being set up for success if they don't have to avoid or numb their feelings. They can embrace their feelings, work through those feelings, and then it builds more capacity to problem solve." – Parish School Social-Emotional Support Specialist, Josie Gardner

In the new Winter 2026 edition of the Parish Post, we highlight how the Parish Student & Family Services team alongside The Carruth Center prioritize and supports students’ mental health and how it helps lay the foundation for their emotional well-being and success.

What is play therapy?🚂

When children struggle to identify, process or express their emotions, they may exhibit behaviors that can be interpreted as problematic. Through play therapy children learn to express their thoughts and feelings in more expected ways, learn about the feelings of others and learn ways to control their own actions and solve problems. The Carruth Center’s registered play therapists have advanced training in how to help children express their feelings through their natural language of play.

If you want more information or would like to refer your child for therapy, head to the link in our bio.
