Founded in 1991, The Carruth Center is a private, multidisciplinary clinic offering an array of assessment and therapeutic services. The Carruth Center therapists are a group of highly trained professionals in the areas of neuropsychology, psychology, speech language pathology, occupational therapy and licensed professional counselors. Our staff specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children in the areas of learning, emotional, behavioral, attention, neurological, communication and /or developmental concerns. I encourage you to find out more about each member of Staff and their specialties. Also, check out our Services for all of the programming offered at The Carruth Center. The clinic offers comprehensive developmental assessments, individual speech and language and occupational therapy, as well as individual and group psychological services. The clinic’s unique programs also include our Language Development Class (LDC) for children with emergent language skills, and social-emotional therapy groups, which focus on appropriate, play skills, peer interaction and problem solving skills. Happy Music Therapy Awareness Month! 🎶

March is , and we‘re proud to highlight Whitney and Kate from The Carruth Center – our music therapists who do incredible work each day! Music therapy supports children’s motor, emotional, cognitive and social development in a fun and natural setting. We are so lucky to have two music therapists on campus! What is play therapy?🚂

When children struggle to identify, process or express their emotions, they may exhibit behaviors that can be interpreted as problematic. Through play therapy children learn to express their thoughts and feelings in more expected ways, learn about the feelings of others and learn ways to control their own actions and solve problems. The Carruth Center’s registered play therapists have advanced training in how to help children express their feelings through their natural language of play.

Get ready for boot camp! 👩‍🏫

Have you heard about our Kaufman-Apraxia Boot Camp (K-ABC) that we hold every summer? It’s a camp designed to increase speech formulation, automaticity, language content and structure for children (ages 3 – 6) who have childhood apraxia of speech or severe phonological disorders. These children benefit greatly from frequent and intensive speech-language therapy.

The Parish School and The Carruth Center will be OPEN tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. All optional activities including extended day and Adventure Play will also be available as scheduled. We will continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our community and would like to remind everyone to be careful on the roadways where there may still be ice on overpasses and bridges. Also, Tuesday morning is expected to be extremely cold, so please be sure to dress your child warmly.
