Hearing a patient describe her recovery is always rewarding.

She shared that after the head wrap was removed, she immediately felt better.

Within a couple of days, she felt okay.
While there was still bruising and swelling, she emphasized there was really no pain.

love hearing from patients about their recovery journey, especially when it comes to having a supportive partner by your side.

One of the biggest concerns my patients often express is how their loved ones will react during the initial healing phase. There's swelling, there are bandages, and it's natural to worry about how your partner will perceive you during those early days.

What I always tell people is that the right partner will understand this is temporary. They'll see past the swelling and bandages because they know what's coming next. The transformation takes time, and patience from both you and your support system makes all the difference.

The good news is that most patients find they're more independent during recovery than they anticipated. Yes, having help those first few days is valuable, but many of my patients are able to care for themselves quite a bit once we get past that initial phase.

If your spouse or partner is hesitant at first, don't worry. They typically adjust quickly once they realize you're healing exactly as planned. What seems like a concern before surgery becomes just part of the process they support you through.

I love revealing the results of a facelift to my patients, especially when they're seeing their transformation for the first time.

This patient came in concerned about their jawline and neck definition. They were self conscious about wearing their hair down and felt like their face had lost some of its youthful structure.

I want to share what the recovery experience was really like for her during her healing journey.

Pain management during the early stages was straightforward. Most discomfort happened at night while sleeping, which is completely normal. During those times, Tylenol 3 provided relief when needed.

During the day, things felt much better. Simple techniques like facial massage combined with vinegar rinses and Aquaphor application offered significant comfort. The cool sensation on the face was incredibly soothing and made daytime recovery very manageable.

Night time sleep required some patience. Most patients found they could sleep in two to three hour intervals, which is exactly what we expect. Ice packs between sleep sessions helped, and there were always moments of comfort throughout the process.

One thing that surprised many patients was how quickly they could return to eating. While the mouth felt slightly stiff initially, taking smaller bites meant they could enjoy regular foods without major restrictions.

I've learned something really powerful through my practice. The patients who experience the most satisfaction after their facelift are the ones doing it for themselves.

When someone looks in the mirror every day and feels disconnected from their reflection, a facelift can restore so much more than just appearance. It brings peace of mind.

One of my patients shared that she's doing this for her own peace. She already feels blessed in many areas of her life, and financially this was the right timing. She wants to see her younger self looking back, with a tighter, more refreshed face.

That's the perfect patient mindset. When people are motivated by external validation or trying to change their life circumstances through surgery, those outcomes are much harder to achieve.
