4/10 UPDATE 💙

We have a 14lb, sweet potato lovin’, baby boy!

We got cleared last week from Texas to start trying purées! Weston is 6 months old so typically this wouldn’t be something you ask your P*P about. Kiddos with Williams Syndrome have low muscle tone, which can be difficult for swallowing, sitting up and tongue thrusting in case they need to spit something out. They also tend to have sensory issues, meaning textures of any kind can be problems later in life- so we wanted to get started asap!

So far we have only tried sweet potatoes and carrots, but the fact that Weston is willing, loving it and not having any issues up to this point is so reassuring! I have a feeling we will have a little foodie on our hands soon!

EASTER UPDATE 💙

Weston Thomas was absolutely s p o i l e d by all his bunnies this year! {he definitely deserved it though!}
Last year, Easter was so special because we announced that we were expecting our tiny tornado; this year was our “first” holiday, home, together, for Weston, as a family ✝️

It wasn’t about the Easter bunny or the outfits, the candy or the egg hunts. It was about Jesus giving us life. Jesus giving us the ultimate sacrifice. Then GETTING UP AND WALKING OUT. It hit different this year, as a Momma, thinking about Mary knowing her son was going to suffer in the most unimaginable pain- for her, for us, for Weston. Thank you Lord for sending your son to give us all the chance at an everlasting life with You.
I think about all the times we stood at Weston’s crib in an ICU terrified of losing him. Watching him poked and cut and hungry and in pain and withdrawing and can’t imagine the pain that Jesus felt, by choice. Out of LOVE.

it’s truly hard to wrap my head around sometimes.
but ‘because He lives, I can face tomorrow’ 🙌🏼

I hope you all had an incredible Easter weekend celebrating life, sacrifice, love and of course enjoying a bit of chocolate 🥰 I know we did.

*one day I’ll be the mom who posts in a timely manner 🙃*

Yesterday was such a big day for Weston Thomas; He did 3 entirely new things!
1. Went on a real outing intended for HIM and did wonderful! 👶🏼
2. Met the Easter Bunny for his first real holiday at home 🐰
3. He did a full rollover all by himself! {and now I can’t get him to stop 😆)

These may not seem like “typical” milestones to celebrate but he’s gone from Santa meeting him while sedated and intubated, not seeing anything but hospital walls for 92 days and being swaddled or tied down in one position for extended periods of time because he pulled at everything.

There is NOTHING that we won’t celebrate for this tough little warrior! It was the best day EVER!

🥳SIX MONTHS OF WESTON THOMAS🎉

Happy 1/2 Birthday to our tiny tornado 🥹 the most cliche quote in the book- but it feels like he was just born yesterday. 92 days in a hospital were taken from us + many before that when he was so sick. But now we have the baby we always hoped was in there!

6 Month Stats 💙
💪🏼13lbs 2oz
📏24.5 in long
🛍️3/3-6mo clothes
🍼3oz bottle at night, 4oz during the day
💤sleeping up to 4 hour stretches
🤪rolling over and sideways and backwards
👶🏼almost has full head control
🐒sitting up assisted
loves music,🎶 Mr. Whale 🐳 and the front porch ☀️
🦷currently trying to pop out a tooth

I can’t wait to show his progress pictures- Weston is a miracle in every sense of the word. Some are hard to look back on, but these sweet smiles and silly faces are worth every mountain he climbed.

3/22 💙🎄

Weston was robbed of his first Christmas- we all were. He was so sick in the hospital that he slept through the entire day.

The entire month of December my Ganmaw Ann would say “we will have his Christmas whenever that is- even if it’s April!” Well she was close!
My sweet Ganmaw kept her Christmas decor up until March to give her sweet boy his first Christmas 🥹
Yesterday was the refill I think we all needed in our cups. Weston played and was *very* loved on, we ate, we laughed uncontrollably, we played games and we were TOGETHER.

It was definitely a Christmas to remember 🫶🏼

3/21 UPDATE 💙

Yesterday. was. the. longest. day.
Fighting Friday + spring break traffic was not on our bingo card but we made it and we really like our new cardiologist on board!

Weston was so good on the drive there and back, only getting cranky when he needed a bottle or a diaper. When we made it, everyone was so kind- from the front desk to the doctor and everyone in between.

Our guy went straight back for his measurements and…..

🥁 DRUM ROLL PLEASE 🥁

Weston hit THIRTEEN POUNDS! 🙌🏼
13lbs 1oz and 24.5 inches long!

It feels so wild to celebrate our {almost} 6 month old finally hitting 13 pounds but this is huge!! Then he got a chest xray which only showed a bit of haziness, still good compared to some in Texas- and we see pulmonary next month! He also got an EKG and an Echo. The EKG wasn’t exactly what we were hoping for, but Dr. Romp was very optimistic. Weston is still having the atrial tachycardia arrhythmia from right after surgery. Sometimes this can take a while to go away but Weston’s has actually gotten more frequent. So we came home on a holter monitor and the electrophysiology cardiologist will review it and see what adjustments need to be made for his medication to help.
The echo was probably hardest for the doctor to read since it’s the only part Weston screamed through 😅 but it looks like the residual from his VSD is still not causing any issues and he still has no stenosis (very common complication for Williams kiddos) !!

Overall there’s still a lot of “watch and wait” but Weston looks wonderful! God has our sweet boy in the palm of His hands 🙏🏻

Thank you for the continued prayers, meals and love- we couldn’t do this without Weston’s warriors 💙

On our way to Birmingham with Pops & Kissie to meet our new “local” cardiology team 🙌🏼

Praying for good test results, peace with the team, common goals and of course a smooth ride with an {almost} 6 month old 🥰

3/17 💙

We haven’t forgotten about Weston’s incredible team here, we’ve been soaking up baby smiles and giggles, sitting on the porch (when it’s not frigid 🥶) and actually getting time to learn our sweet boy!
I have no doubt that he knows he’s at home. He’s sleeping SO much better-praise be- and gaining weight like a champ! Right now he loves talking and singing to Mr. Whale, his holey ball, his swing, and silly faces!

Yesterday was his PT evaluation and he was such a flirt! Imagine that! lol we will be seeing PT AND OT 2x/week for now and hopefully when he has better head and motor control we can cut down- it’s a long drive there and back. Tomorrow he will see his new pediatrician and get started back on his vaccine schedule so hopefully we can get out and about more and more! Friday we travel to UAB to see his new pediatrician”local” primary cardiologist. We will get an ekg, labs and probably a new echo to make sure his medications are still appropriate. As many nights as we’ve spent in a hospital, as many tests and pokes he’s had, this momma is still anxious when it comes to his sweet heart.

To everyone who has continued to bless us with donations, meals, cards and prayers- THANK YOU. Not a single one goes unnoticed. We pray daily for the incredible support we have in you and our families. 🙏🏼

For now, please pray that he tolerates his vaccines well, that his heart looks as close to perfect as it can be and that his new team is kind to our little man.

This is a video of him flirting with his new PT, Miss Lori and showing her how strong he can be! 💪🏼
We love you all so much and I will work on posting sweet day to day updates more often!

Weston has been talking so much the last couple of days and tonight he decided to serenade his best friend, Mr. Whale 🥹🐳

3/4 UPDATE 💙

We traded city traffic noises and loud neighbors for birds chirping and a cool breeze this morning 🥰

After 92 of the worst days of our lives, Weston Thomas finally decided it was time to come back to Alabama.
He is stable.
He is thriving.
He is not sleeping 😵‍💫
But we are finding our new “normal”.

Right now we are attempting to find some type of routine, making schedule and home life adjustments, unpacking and enjoying having our baby boy home.
We please ask for no visitors until we announce we are ready. But your love and prayers have gotten us this far, we know they will keep us going 🫶🏼

God is good all the time 🙌🏼
