Parkinson’s Disease Facts :
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and April 11th is World Parkinson’s Day.
Someone with Parkinson’s disease will likely takes small steps and shuffle,have stooped posture,and have trouble turning around.
Exercise is very important to maintaining balance,mobility and activities of daily water exercise,such as aerobics or swimming laps are helpful and easier on the joints.
Help prevent falls.Remove all loose wires, cords,and throw rugs. Minimize clutter.
Levodopa(also called L-dopa) is the most commonly prescribed and most effective drug controlling Parkinson’s symptoms.
Eat healthy: high fiber foods, whole grain foods,fresh fruits,food low in saturated fat and cholesterol.Limit sugar and salt.
Deep brain stimulation (or DBS) is a way to inactivate parts of the brain that cause Parkinson’s diseases and its associated symptoms.
The prevalence of Parkinson’s is expected to double by 2040 as the world’s elderly population grows.
