Jordyn has epilepsy, and typically has a handful of small seizures every day. She also uses a g tube, a trach, and a vent while asleep.

She loves watching movies with her sisters and loves being outside watching them play.
She's nonverbal, but she loves being spoken to and listening to music.

Celebrities with Autism 💙🧠✨

🌏Greta Thunberg – Environmental activist
When she was just 11 years old, she was diagnosed with ASD type 1, formerly called Asperger's syndrome. She shared on her social media, "I have Asperger's, and that means I'm sometimes a bit different from the norm. And, given the right circumstances, being different is a superpower."

🎮Satoshi Tajiri – Video game franchise creator
Satoshi Tajiri, creator of the Pokémon video game franchise, was diagnosed with ASD as a child and often struggled socially. He found joy in collecting insects and later developed a fascination with arcade games. His intense focus led him to design Pokémon, inspired by his childhood hobby of bug collecting.

🏆Sir Anthony Hopkins – Actor
He revealed in the 2010s that he has ASD type 1 and was diagnosed later in life. Growing up, he struggled in school and felt misunderstood, which led to feelings of isolation. Hopkins' approach to acting, such as memorizing lines hundreds of times, reflects his ability to focus deeply – a trait he attributes to his ASD.

🎶Susan Boyle – Singer
She became the first British female artist (followed only by Adele) to have a number one album in the UK and the US, simultaneously.
She described receiving her diagnosis of ASD type 1 as a relief. Her ASD went undiagnosed most of her life, so, as a child, she felt like an outsider; however, like many adults who grew up with ASD, a childhood spent in isolation only strengthened her inner world and resolve. She explained, "Now I have a clearer understanding of what's wrong and I feel relieved, and a bit more relaxed about myself."

The observance was created to celebrate, promote and share the science of behavior analysis on a global scale, increasing awareness and inclusivity across all branches of behavior analysis.

Melissa spent this day training at a hands-on skills lab, spending time with her clients, and prepping for office learning opportunities in the local coffee shop.☕

🤔💭 What do Clinical Supervisors do?

We spoke to Kellie Lanier, our Chief Nursing Officer, along with other members of our clinical leadership team to discuss their experience as clinical supervisors and what they believe it takes to succeed in the role at Maxim.

What do Clinical Supervisors do?
📅 Clinical supervisors split their time between the office and the community. They typically spend at least two days a week in the office handling documentation, updating care plans and coordinating services.
👋💙 The rest of their time is spent out in the community visiting patients, supporting nurses in the field and assessing care needs firsthand. This hybrid structure keeps them connected to both the administrative and hands‑on sides of care.

Maxim's clinical leadership agreed that the soft skills required to thrive in this role include:
💬 Maintaining clear and consistent communication between coworkers, patients and caregivers
💙🧠 Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
🌎 Cultural understanding and acceptance
👂🫂Listening, compassion, and patience

A typical day and work hours:
⌚ Most clinical supervisors work standard business hours, typically from 8 am to 5 pm during the week. Depending on patient needs, there may be occasional evening or weekend visits, but these are usually short and focused. The role offers a structured schedule while still allowing flexibility when patient situations require extra attention.
