AS PROMISED - PART II OF OUR 30 YEAR JOURNEY HELPING THE COMMUNITY!

It’s hard to believe that 30 years has passed so quickly. Infants and toddlers that we worked with to aid their bodies to outgrow their physical delays into the healthiest version of themselves are now grown adults with children of their own. Students that we mentored from HS/college and supported through their educational aspirations and ultimate graduation into various disciplines of physical medicine, HAVE ADVANCED into positions where they have made significant contributions and now carry on the tradition themselves of educating future generations of aspiring students.

Patients who lost the functional use of their limbs/dominant extremities that were told they were past the point of recovering function and told “they’d have to live with it,” researched or found our clinic through recommendations with the hope for one last opportunity to regain any degree of function. Many hours of donated time resourcefulness and a collaborative effort would be necessary to develop treatment strategies to beat the odds that were stacked against these individuals.

One such patient, a young MD received manual therapies combined to creative splinting and stimulation of neural paths to recover, went on to regain the use of her dominant arm-hand to be able to perform outstanding autoimmune research. She has become highly recognized for her contributions in research towards promising treatments of ALS.

HERE IS PART I OF OUR INCREDIBLE 30 YEAR JOURNEY!

In 1993, we began our journey of becoming an entrepreneur by opening a very modest physical rehabilitation clinic that specialized in the treatment of complex disorders ranging from women recovering from breast cancer with lymphedema, chronic progressive neurological diseases and autoimmune disorders.

There was such a need in our community for people to be received in a warm and comforting environment that provided them with the skills and coping mechanisms to face and deal with the physical and emotional challenges brought upon them.

Our team became a part of their journey, by treating the patients we received with the utmost care and respect and empowering them with knowledge of self care techniques and modalities to help prevent the reoccurrence, or acceleration of their life altering conditions.

The team at IPT is proud to introduce Bernard Fryer, PTA. Bernard has 40 years experience in the Physical Therapy field. Here he guides a patient through a session on the Biodex Balance System which increases agility and develops muscle tone.

Bernard is a 1983 graduate of UCC in New Jersey and is a certified FRCms specialist (functional range conditioning), FMT (functional mobility rock tape certificate), MFR (myofacial release and cupping) and is also certified in kinesiology taping.
