It’s the season of giving!! These past few weeks, our team collected non perishable food items and toiletries for the Food Pantry /Hudson Community Service Association! We will be collecting donations at the Winter Wonderland @ Case Barlow farm in Hudson on Saturday December 6th.

So true. Understanding behavior is dynamic and it’s our job to examine all of its moving parts!

We often teach the four functions of behavior as the key to understanding “why” a behavior happens—attention, escape, access, and sensory.

But human behavior is deeper than four boxes.
It’s medical. It’s neurological. It’s emotional.

True understanding comes when we look at the needs within the functions—
Not just what behavior gets, but why it matters.

✏️📋FREE RESOURCE🖍📖

As school is approaching, we wanted to share a resource for families created by our BCBA supervisors!

This form is intended to be completed by anyone that knows your child well including the ABA team, parents or other stakeholders.

It can provide a few but important pieces of information about your child to aide in the transition to a new school and/or new teacher. We hope this also opens up communication and collaboration among the child's team right from the start of the year!

As 4th of July nears, it is important to remember that the holiday often comes with many events that can be overstimulating to autistic individuals. Parades, crowds, and fireworks can all contribute to sensory issues and lead to unwanted stress and meltdowns.

Before making plans, consider what options might best suit yourself or your loved one. Would it be best to view a fireworks display in person, on television, or not at all?

Here are a few practical tips that can help with sensory management at loud events:
✨Wrap around sunglasses for sensitivity to light.
✨Ear Plugs for reducing sound.
✨Sensory toys, squeeze balls, rubber band, fidget items.
✨Special sensory bracelets.
