The person who came up with the style of myofascial release that I practice, that I took many seminars from starting in 2014, has died today. John F Barnes is (was?) an instructor that will always leave an imprint on my work and on my heart.

I frequently work with people who have chronic pain conditions. Myofascial release therapy is NOT a "Quick Fix". It IS a partnership, definitely not your traditional "massage". Myofascial Release goes beyond structure and can be a doorway to awareness of other issues which can be very supportive along with counseling, meditation and gentle movement practices. For those with chronic pain, what are your go-to holistic ways to keep being able to participate in life?

Is all the snow removal having your body say "Hey, I'm not used to this, I'm getting really sore. Help!" Some myofasical release could be a good answer to this plea. Also, a reminder that if the weather outside is truly frightful, contact me or I'll contact you and let's find a time to reschedule that's safer for travel. :-)

An Excerpt from one of the blogs about MFR - you can find the rest on my webpage www.ChrisAckermann.com. "To understand MFR, we must first understand what is fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue of the body. It surrounds other tissues –muscles, bones, organs, and nerves and provides support to your organs, helping to keep them in place. Tendons, ligaments, and scar tissue are examples of specialized fascia.

Fascia contains MANY sensory nerves that allow you to feel what’s happening on the inside of your body. When working properly, it provides support, allows smooth movement, helps stabilize the body, and maintains balance. It also contributes to proprioception—the body's sense of position." Is your fascia not quite working properly? Come in for a consult or schedule an appointment.

JF Barnes Myofascial Release - Serving Humans & Horses

Massage & energy work "found" me. In 2010 I signed up for massage school at St. Croix Center For The Healing Arts. By 2014, I had saved enough to try my first class of John Barnes Myofascial Release. I have since taken many more classes, participate in study groups and in short, I found my preferred form of bodywork. I am considered an “Advanced” level JFB MFR therapist. A full listing of the training I’ve taken is listed on my website here: http://chrisa.massagetherapy.com/about-the-practitioner

My personal story is given briefly on my website, but suffice it to say that I've been through some serious injuries and MFR (that's short for Myofascial Release) has been wonderful for my own healing process on all levels: Physical, Mental & Emotional.

MFR is a type of therapeutic bodywork working with the fascial system that is both gentle & highly effective. Done with the client clothed. May be helpful with resolving back, shoulder, neck, head, foot, wrist & systemic pain issues.

If you have questions or are considering working with me, I encourage scheduling a half hour free consultation. RATES PEOPLE:
