Maple Ridge Farms Assisted Living was a dream that came to fruition for us this year. We had been looking for a special place to provide exceptional hands-on care in a family style environment and are grateful that with planning and perseverance we have been able to do so. Since purchasing the property in October of 2013, we have been busy with the licensing process and updating both the interior and exterior of the home. Our "outside" family members have also been getting new accommodations in the barn. We currently have three large horses, one miniature donkey and an outside cat that love getting the attention of all of our residents. This has been an exciting year and we feel so blessed as our large extended family grows, and the facility takes on its new/old look as original woodwork and bricks are exposed. Full time or (2 part-time) night shift caregiver positions available! Direct caregiving experience preferred, but will train the right candidate. Residents require assistance with personal care, meal preparation, med pass (after training), and supervision. Must pass background check, maintain CPR/First aide certification. Unique environment caring for special needs and elderly residents. BC/BS Heath Insurance available.

Gardening class, April 16th 3pm at Kitty & Co in downtown Chelsea. Cost is $35 and will include a couple of tomato seedlings! If you were at the March class, bring your seedlings,we can transplant them into larger pots so they will carry on growing until its time to plant them outside! We will be talking about garden site selection, preparation, planting various veggies, trellising, mulching, etc. Kitty & Co will have garden markers available for purchase, Withingtons will be doing a dessert wine tasting, and Kitchen Little is offering their original salted chocolate ganache HoNos (they are vegan and gluten free, and so decadent), $17 / 2 pack. Cut off for ordering dessert will be Thursday April 13th. Seating is limited, we'd love to see you there! Planting time is just around corner!

Our on-demand generator earned its keep these last few days, the residents couldn't even tell that the power was out! Thankful that the electricity has now been restored! Our phone lines are still not functioning correctly though so if you're trying to call the farm and can't get through that's the problem. Everyone (human and animal) is safe and sound, can't say the same for so many of the trees on the property, but clean up will continue for the next few days and we will have plenty of wood chips for the chickens!

2022 growing season is a wrap! We can protect the dahlias from frost, but not from a freeze! Temps dipped to 29F early this morning. Pictures taken 24 hours apart...time to let the dahlia tubers that are underground rest, then the digging/storing process starts! Did you know one dahlia tuber can produce a large clump of tubers in one season? If stored in ideal conditions and split one tuber can produce many new plants next year. Simply amazing! Thinking about documenting the process if there's anyone interested in how we process them for next year?
