The medical office at Alight offers medical services which include consultations, pregnancy tests, STI testing and treatment, and limited obstetrical ultrasounds. Alight offers educational services which include classes for childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, infant care, sex education, and more. Packing your hospital bag in preparation for giving birth can be a little overwhelming. What do you actually need to be comfortable and feel at ease?

The hospital will most likely provide many things for you including perribottles, maternity pads, ice packs, ointments, disposable underwear, ni**le cream, etc. They will also provide most everything your baby will need right away like swaddles, diapers, wipes, formula samples, pacifiers, bulb syringe, etc.

So before you go crazy overpacking, narrow down the essentials you’ll need to feel comfortable during your stay.

Here’s what we recommend:

✨ toiletries (the hospital may provide these, but it’s nice to have your own)

✨ going home outfit (for both you and baby)

✨ shower shoes

✨ slippers to walk around in

✨ phone charger

✨ snacks

✨ lounge wear or comfy pjs

✨ nursing bra

Vaginal discharge is your body’s way of keeping things healthy, and it can also tell you a lot about where you are in your cycle.

Discharge helps keep the va**na clean and protected, and it naturally changes throughout the menstrual cycle. Healthy discharge can be clear, white, or off-white and may be thin, sticky, stretchy, or slippery depending on the time in your cycle.

Around ovulation, discharge often becomes clear and stretchy (similar to egg whites), which can be a sign that you’re in your most fertile window. 🍳

But sometimes discharge can signal that something isn’t quite right. Changes like a strong odor, unusual color (yellow, green, or gray), itching, burning, or irritation may be signs of an infection and are worth getting checked out.

Learning what’s normal for your body can help you notice when something changes and understanding it is a powerful part of caring for your health.
