Tomorrow marks Day 21 on our Egg Incubation Calendar, and anticipation is high! We’ve been watching the eggs closely for any signs of pipping, and one eager little chick has already decided to make an early entrance. It’s been wiggling and scooting all around the incubator, keeping everyone entertained. We’ve also spotted another egg beginning to pip, so more action is definitely on the way.
We began this adventure with 18 chicken eggs and 2 turkey eggs. Last week, we removed two that weren’t progressing, but the rest are right on track. Chicken eggs typically hatch at 21 days, while turkey eggs take a bit longer at 28 days — so we may have a staggered hatching schedule ahead of us.
Since you never quite know what you’ll end up with, residents (and staff!) will be keeping a very close eye on these soon‑to‑be chicks. It’s an exciting time in the Osceola Activity Office, and we can’t wait to see who hatches next! Stay tuned for more updates!
