2 more offices updated and ready for sessions, for those of you enjoying our renovations. Cozy and comfy is our style 😉. Little did I know how much interior decorating and furniture buying I’d have to do over the years in this business. It’s a fun challenge keeping things coordinated and interchangeable for all the shifting around we do. Might not be able to keep up with the trends, but I did finally get a bold green couch in the mix! 😅

I really enjoyed this podcast for many reasons hosted by two professionals I have followed for years, but one great reason is the chance to watch two people respectfully disagree and repair some significant past hurts between them. This is what we try to help people do in relationships every day in our offices. It’s hard, but healing.

The Benefits of Finding a Virtual Therapist in Your Own Community

No doubt online therapy has benefited many people by making mental health therapy more accessible to many more people. It has also provided flexibility and more specialization for therapists, which is a benefit for both the therapist and the clients.

However, as giant corporations entering the mental health space gather up thousands of therapists to offer services nationwide and even worldwide, sometimes the benefits start to get lost. Often the therapists become less taken care of and feel disposable, and therefore so do the clients.

As we watch the trends of online therapy in the last few years, it appears that many people do still prefer to find a therapist near them, even for virtual therapy. As a small group practice, we love having the option to add online therapy for anxiety, depression, and relationships to our in-person services. This helps us serve people in the more rural areas of our states, as well as our local clients who need to squeeze in a session on a workday, be home with a sick kiddo, or avoid the roads on a snowy day which we have a lot of around here.

There are so many benefits to finding an online therapist near you, including:
• It’s easy to relate and connect through shared experiences happening in the same area.
• Local providers have more invested in maintaining a healthy and high-quality reputation in their area.
• Providers working in local groups are often provided with better compensation and work-life balance which leads to better services for the clients.
• You know who to contact with any questions or concerns when there is a local business behind the service.
• You may feel more motivated to stick with your treatment for better results when you feel connected to a local provider.
• There is often more consistency over time in being able to connect with or locate your provider again in the future throughout the years if you need help at different stages of life.

Online therapy is definitely here to stay and will keep getting better! If you are looking for high quality therapy, in person or online, we hope you’ll reach out to us.

Our main office is in Hudson, WI with a satellite office in Annandale, MN. Most of our therapists can offer virtual sessions throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota, with a couple of specialized Wisconsin based online therapists located in Cumberland, WI and Madison, WI.

Ready to see our (office) fixer upoer? Open for business! We are in! Still more to do, but we are most of the way there. “Chip” and I 😉 moved our whole suite, including a waiting room and 7 offices of furniture (basically 7 living rooms and an art room) in 3 days over the weekend and the therapists got settled in on Sunday. Whew! We are so sore and tired, but pretty darn happy with what we were able to do in two weeks! Now we can finish the job at a normal pace. It’s so fun to see the different styles in each room as the therapists make it their own. I might do another reveal of mine later when I get a chance to work on it and we have some better pictures. It’s hard to capture how good it feels in there, but here are a few shots. We are loving it so far and hope our clients do too ❤️

Reno Phase 2: Red walls become blue! Most of the 7 offices had a red accent wall, which we needed to change for many reasons 😉. Since we don’t have time to paint every office right now, all we could get done were the blue walls. It came out more blue than the darker slate I thought it would be. But I’ve learned to quiet my perfectionist mind with “good enough!” ☺️. We’ll paint them all eventually. Moving on!

Anyone like to watch design transformations? We are moving one of our suites to a larger space in the same building. We are switching spaces with the State Farm office everyone has known to be here for so many years. Don’t worry, they are still here, just moving upstairs and we are moving down! We are so grateful to the kind State Farm team as they have let us plan and paint while they work 😅. The dramatic difference in our branding colors makes this transformation fun to watch. Plus, we are making this switch in record time of 2 weeks! We are 10 days in now, have painted for about 40 hours and have the floors in. Watch it come to life over the next week or so. ❤️ Luckily my husband and I are the less talented Chip and Joanna Gaines. We flipped our first house in 1999 before we were even married! This is my kind of therapy, so fun, but much more painful at this age 😉😅

*Openings Available for Child Therapy!
School has begun! Could your child benefit from therapy? School is full of stressors many parents are not aware of. It's not the same as when we were in school.

Classrooms can be overstimulating, the demands are getting higher, and the threats are getting scarier.

Sometimes it's easy to know when our kids are stressed, but other times we miss it. They might seem overtired, bored, or irritable. Maybe they are withdrawn and quiet, or melting down and acting out.

Parents do their best to support their kids, but sometimes we can still feel lost and confused, not knowing how to help. Therapy may be a great option to support you and your kiddo if stress seems to be climbing.

Therapists can help kids better understand and express their feelings, cope with difficult situations and find solutions through creative and playful outlets. Therapy also helps parents to better understand their child's needs as well as their own, so they can feel more confident and connected with their family.

If you think therapy might be helpful for your family, give us a call at 715-441-1828, or email us at info@cftc-online.com.

Mental Health Benefits of Taking Your Shoes Off

Summer is here, whether the temperatures are climbing in your area yet or not. It’s been a bit slow to arrive here in the Midwest this year, but the flowers are starting to bloom.

Therapy often gets put on the backburner during summer in the Midwest, and sometimes for good reasons. It’s not always about being too busy trying to squeeze in all of the vacations and time outside we can, but it’s also because there are so many ways to improve our mood and increase our joy through being outside and seeing more sunshine.

Most people are not intentionally trying to improve their mental health in the summer, it’s just a lucky side effect we get to benefit from. However, if you are looking for clues of what else improves our mood besides the sun, look down to the ground. Having our bare feet directly on the grass or in the sand connects us to the Earth’s energy and has been shown to have a calming effect which can decrease anxiety and improve our mood. (If you find this concept interesting, you can research “grounding” or “earthing” to learn more about its health benefits.)

The best wellness tips I find are those that are easy to implement into things you do already. So, think about the times you are already in the yard that you could easily take off your shoes, whether that’s gardening, sitting by a fire, walking to the mailbox, or in my case, puppy-poop-scooping every morning. I figure it’s easier to wash my feet than my shoes if I step in anything, ha!
