Today's Bible meditation: Proverbs 23:23
"Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."

This Proverb tells us to hold on to truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding, seeing them as incredibly valuable assets that should be "bought" (pursued and acquired) and never "sold" (given up or traded away for lesser things). The verse encourages active pursuit of spiritual and moral knowledge and warns against compromising these values for worldly pleasures or immediate gratification.

"Buy the truth":
This means to actively seek and acquire truth, even if it involves effort or sacrifice, because it is of great value.

"Sell it not":
This is a warning to not let go of truth once we have it, avoiding temptations and compromising convictions that will lead us to abandon what we know is right.

"Also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding":
These are presented as inseparable companions to truth, all of which are to be valued and held onto.

Wisdom: The right application of knowledge.

Instruction: The process of being taught and corrected.

Understanding: The ability to comprehend and apply knowledge.

Value of truth over material gain:
The verse teaches us that these spiritual and moral qualities are far more valuable than any material possession. They should be pursued with a commitment that is as serious as buying something expensive without selling it.

Daily Bible meditation from the Proverbs.
Proverbs 14:10, "The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy,"
This reminds us that our deepest struggles and joys are unique and personal, a truth that shows us our need for a dynamic personal relationship with the Lord. While others can be used of Him in our comfort, people can't fully understand the inner workings of our hearts as God does. This proverb encourages us to bring our inner struggles to Him, the only one who can provide restoration and fully share in our joy, while also developing awareness of the hidden parts of our hearts.

God knows the hidden struggles:
The proverb states that a "stranger," meaning anyone not intimately connected to a person's soul, cannot know their deep pain, hurt, or even bitterness. This reminds us of the limitation of our understanding and points us to the one who already knows. He is the only one who can provide comfort and forgiveness from the deep "bitterness of its soul" that others cannot reach.

God can share in our joy:
The proverb also notes that a "stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy," revealing that our deepest joys are also a very personal and intimate experience. Having a real personal relationship with Jesus is what makes this joy possible, as it is rooted in spiritual fulfillment and divine connection, according to the Bible.

God's presence is a source of strength:
The "joy of the Lord" is often described as our strength, a spiritual strength that comes only from a personal relationship with Him.

It calls us to bring everything to God:
The verse also encourages us to not suffer in silence but to trust and depend on the Lord to supply our needs

Applying the wisdom of this verse allows us to grow in our relationship with the Lord by bringing our innermost struggles to Him, knowing He cares.

Today's Bible meditation from the Proverbs
Proverbs 9:10-12 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it."

A life of wisdom starts with humility and a God-centered perspective. Reverence for God and a knowledge of Him leads us to make wise choices. The result is a life of blessing and purpose, rather than with our own spiritual focus and negative outcomes of a life lived in foolishness.

-"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom...":
This "fear" isn't a cowering fear, but a reverence for God's holiness, justice, and power. It's our first step to understanding true wisdom.
-"...and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.":
True understanding is not just intellectual knowledge, but a personal relationship with the Lord... a deep, spiritual insight into Who He is and His purpose for us.
-"For by me your days will be many, and years of life will be added to you.":
The wisdom gained from fearing the Lord and knowing Him leads us to a life of great blessing, purpose, and experiencing the abundant Christian life.
-"If you be wise, you shall be wise for yourself: but if you scorn, you alone shall bear it.":
This emphasizes that wisdom is a beneficial personal choice, while foolishness and rejection of God's wisdom result in negative consequences and suffering that we then endure.

Today's Bible meditation from Proverbs 22:5
"Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them".

Those, those who choose a perverse or stubborn way of life, contrary to God's purpose, will encounter difficulty and trouble, "thorns and snares". However, those who are wise and seek the Lord in their purpose will avoid these destructive paths and remain far from them.

"Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward":
Froward: describes someone who is perverse, disobedient, stubborn, and difficult to deal with—A person who is contrary to the will and law of God.
Thorns and snares: are the difficulties, troubles, and dangers that froward people will inevitably face in their lives due to their choices. These can be hardships, entanglements in further sin, or the painful consequences of their actions.

"He that doth keep his soul shall be far from them":
“Keep his soul”: refers to taking heed of our actions and the safety of our spirit. Implying effort to protect our spiritual well-being through self-discipline and yielding to our purpose, we are made for.
"Shall be far from them": By being vigilant in the spirit, one will be safe from the dangers, difficulties, and snares that plague the perverse. A person who guards their life with wisdom and direction will avoid the destructive paths chosen by those who live contrary to God's word.

Today's Bible meditation....

Proverbs 18:14 "The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?".

This highlights the resilience of the human spirit and its capacity to endure physical ailments, illnesses, and life's trials. However, a "wounded spirit"—a spirit broken by despair, deep sorrow, or guilt—is far more grievous and difficult to bear than any physical sickness. The verse emphasizes the importance of spiritual strength, faith, and our need for the Lord in overcoming hardships.

"The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity"

Resilience: The inner strength, courage, and moral character of a person (the "spirit") can help them endure physical sickness, addiction, financial troubles, and other adversities.
Our courage: A strong, cheerful, and spiritually supported spirit can bear up under hardships, whether they are bodily pains or external troubles.

"But a wounded spirit who can bear?"

Unbearable pain: A crushed or broken spirit, caused by betrayal, intense sorrow, guilt, or the despair of hopelessness, is an almost intolerable burden.
Despair and destruction: Unlike a physical ailment, which the spirit can often endure, a wounded spirit can leave a person utterly depleted, drained, and unable to function or find joy.
Need for divine support: The proverb suggests that such a deeply afflicted spirit can only be restored through God's grace, the application of forgiving grace, and our hope through Christ.

Today's Bible meditation...
Proverbs 12:15 "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise"."
We can be decived in thinking our own way is correct, while a wise person listens to and accepts counsel. We need to be seeking wise counsel, not being stubbornly self-assured, unable to recognize our own blind spots or errors, and be wise individuals who demonstrate humility by seeking and following the guidance of others that are knowledgeable and God-centered in offering support and counsel.

Today's Bible meditation from Proverbs 11: 1-2

"A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom".

An upright life leads us on the right path. This keeps godly people from gaining a bad reputation, from suffering the consequences of sin, and from being taken in by our own desire. Those who reject wisdom are consumed and destroyed by their own evil. In particular, those who pursue worldliness at all costs are left hopeless. Pride ultimately leads to disgrace or shame, but humility leads us to see our need for wisdom from the Lord. (Proverbs 11:1–8).
