With heartfelt reverence, we announce the passing of Sister Jimmie Lee Thomas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and devoted servant of Christ, who entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2025 at the age of 92.

A devoted Christian, Ms. Thomas lived her life in harmony with God’s word—graceful, faithful, and full of joy. She had a song in her heart for every season, and her voice lifted the spirits of all who heard it. Whether in church pews or at home with loved ones, she sang with conviction, praising the Lord with every note.

Her melodies were more than music—they were prayers, memories, and gifts of love. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and music that will echo in our hearts forever.

A lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church, she served in many roles, including Mission President, Sunday School teacher, choir president and service announcer. She retired from Head Start and later worked as a cook at Grant Schools, where she was loved for her home-cooked meals and as a loyal basketball fan. She enjoyed family time, bingo, casino trips, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and OU Sooners.

She is survived by children: Karen Chapman, Pamela Adamson, Debra Miller, Alicia Thomas, Richard Thomas and Tony Thomas; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.

She will be remembered for her generous spirit, steadfast faith and deep love for others. Though we grieve, we rejoice in knowing she now sings with the angels, her voice forever part of heaven’s choir.

Her life WILL BE CELEBRATED on Saturday, August 16, 2025, 11:00am at the South Central District Building, 506 S. DeWitt, Hugo OK 74743. Her earthly resting place will be at the Gay Cemetery in Gay, OK.
