Humboldt Area Rescue Squad/EMS would like to inform the community that the National Weather Service Memphis has issued a Tornado Watch for much of the Mid-South that will remain in effect until 11:00 PM CST this evening.

Humboldt and all of Gibson County are included in the watch area.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware this evening, monitor local weather updates, and have a plan in place should severe weather move into our area. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and be prepared to take shelter if a warning is issued.

Our crews will be monitoring conditions and are ready to respond if needed. Please stay safe. ⛈️🌪️🚑

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own, Deputy Kenny Smith. Our hearts are truly broken as we grieve the loss of a great friend, colleague, and dedicated public servant.

Deputy Kenny faithfully served the citizens of Gibson County for many years. He also served the City of Humboldt with the same commitment, integrity, and compassion. He was a true servant to his community, and his impact will be felt for many years to come.

Gibson County has lost a great man, and we are all better for having known and worked beside him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing how deeply he was respected and loved.
