Marissa and Rob…

My job is never to replace mom’s partner if she doesn’t want me to. But to work with them, the partner, before and during labor to support mom in the way they instinctually and intimately know how to. With gentle reminders, guidance and an extra set of hands we work as a team.

These two were a dream team. It was such a privilege to watch Rob be fully present for Marissa in the birth room.

It’s not lost on me how these little hands can still be full with just my pinkie finger.

It’s not lost on me how any one of these naps on my chest may be the last.

What a privilege it is to just enjoy you. Your flawless little face. Your heart beat against my belly.

You shift and roll and mutter mama. Before finding a new way to make a nest out of my body where you quietly lay.

I remember the first time you said mama. It’s not gotten old. I could hear you say mama a trillion times my sweet baby,

it’s not lost on me.

WOMEN ARE FIERCE. 🦁And when that lioness energy is unleashed it is palpable, powerful and ever present.

I’ve supported two births in two weeks.
A bit of reflection. And reminders….

✨You CANNOT think your way through birth. It requires animal instincts.

✨Tapping into that takes practice.

✨That’s why I encourage moms to practice that BEFORE birth.

✨Practice being still, practice being out of your head and in your body on a daily basis.

✨You’ve got this mama. You CAN do hard things.

✨Every Birth blows me away at how much mom can hold at once.

🤰🏾This event is for pregnant and newly postpartum families to come learn about all the amazing prenatal and postpartum support available in our area while you mingle with other families in similar life stages and enjoy some tasty treats.
