If your patient is struggling to get your shoulder behind your back AFTER surgery…

Here is a series of movements/exercises to do:

1. AAROM: Assistance with extension and internal rotation

2. Neuromuscular Recruitment: Manual resistance for activation with movement

3. Eccentric “tempo” shoulder internal rotation

4. AROM w/elimination of compensation

Share with somebody who is struggling with reaching behind their back.

Leg extensions are ESSENTIAL to regaining quad strength following ACL surgery.

No other exercises isolates the quad the way that leg extensions do. Numbers DON’T lie 🙅🏽‍♂️

So, do miss out on the GAINZ 💪🏽 the patients can achieve with this exercise in their program!

Once you get out of the boot following an achilles repair focus on early loading to improve stability of the ankle and functional dorsiflexion.

Often times passive ankle ROM does not translate to functional dorsiflexion that we need with walking and stairs. You can’t stretch the Achilles a lot in the early phases, but start loading it to improve movement patterns.

Obviously, I am PRO ACL REHAB and believe great rehab can address the common reasons patients want/need to wear a brace when they return to sport.

Common reasons patients wear a brace:

1. Knee still feels weak and unstable
2. Retuning too soon
3. Multiple ACL tears
4. Graft protection

I believe if you had a good rehab where you didn’t skip steps, all decisions were based off of objective criteria, and you gradually worked yourself back into your sport then the brace is not necessary.
