When depression hits, even simple tasks can feel harder. It doesn’t mean you’re lazy or failing; it’s a common side effect of low mood.
If you’re trying to gently start making progress on your to-do list, here are a few small ways to reset and regain momentum:
💙 Build in calm.
Try a few deep breaths, a short stretch, or a quick break. Pausing on purpose can help your brain come back online without piling on pressure.
💙 Make it smaller than “small.”
Choose one tiny step (reply to one email, start the first five minutes, make the list). Small wins create traction.
💙 Borrow motivation from your people.
Spend time with supportive, encouraging voices; friends, coworkers, or community members who help you feel a little more grounded.
💙 Go slower, on purpose.
You don’t have to power through. Pick a couple of “good enough” tasks, take breaks, and give yourself grace as you go.
