There isn’t one magic activity that “fixes” depression.

What help looks like can be different for each person, and that’s okay. Still, there are a few practices many people find supportive on harder days:

1. Set small, realistic goals
Having something to move toward—no matter how simple—can create a sense of purpose and momentum.

2. Challenge your inner critic
When that negative voice shows up, pause and gently replace it with something more compassionate and true.

3. Explore a hobby or interest
Engaging in something you enjoy (or are curious about) can offer a healthy distraction and a small spark of joy.

Have you thought about what your New Year’s resolutions are? Whether you want to become more active or change your career, there’s a system you can follow to make it easier to stick to your goals. ⠀

1. Choose your goal(s).⠀
Choose a resolution that’s important to you; it’s easier to stick to something if it means a lot to you.⠀

2. Refine your goal.⠀
Make sure your goal is smart:⠀
S - specific⠀
M - measurable⠀
A - achievable⠀
R - rewarding⠀
T - time-bound⠀

3. Break it down.⠀
Break down your goal into mini-goals and create an action plan to reach each mini-goal.⠀

4. Set deadlines.⠀
Make a schedule for your action plan.⠀

5. Identify obstacles.⠀
Identify potential challenges and obstacles and how you can overcome them.⠀

I work with both adolescents and adults. My areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, eating disorders and relationship issues. In addition, I am a Board Certified Telehealth (BC-TMH) provider. I have received extensive training in how to conduct both phone and online counseling services.
