Some days I really miss that bump! My 11 year old still likes long hugs and cuddles, but little by little he's becoming more independent and capable. I love seeing him grow up, but I really do miss how connected we once were!

Five days before I went into labor with my son...

I was huge, hot, uncomfortable, and completely over being pregnant. Every day felt like a week.

At the same time, there was this strange tension — wanting it to be over, but knowing everything was about to change.

This photo reminds me what it feels like to wait. To be ready and not ready.

April Book Review ...

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth
By: Ina May Gaskin

What a great book! Part one of this book is full of amazing birth stories. These stories helped solidify my belief that birthing is normal. It's not a medical issue that requires a medical solution. Birthing does not have to be scary. If every expecting mother and birth worker read this book, I think we'd see rapid change in how birth is talked about and approached.

You don’t have to wait until labor to learn how to move through it. Practicing positions ahead of time builds muscle memory, confidence, and ease.

February Book Review ...

Born to Breastfeed
By: Rowena Gray

This book has some great information on under and over production of milk supply. It gives practical steps to help troubleshoot a whole list of potential breastfeeding challenges. I wish that I had read this book while I was breastfeeding my babies. I think that I would have had a much more smooth and enjoyable breastfeeding experience, if I had.

Happy one month baby River! Being present at your birth was such an amazing gift! It was beautiful to witness your parents cocoon around each other as they prepared to meet you, and then the instant you were born you joined that cocoon, and made their world so much bigger! You are so loved! 💗
