For the past few years, Dr. Sebag of VMR and the Doheny Eye Institute in Southern California has collaborated with optical engineers at the Nicolas Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. Their work has produced a novel imaging approach that visualizes the entire central vitreous body. Results were presented at the 2025 SPIE (https://ow.ly/N3rR50UW1n3) meeting is San Francisco and received the Pascal Rol Award for the top research presented at the 35th Ophthalmic Technologies meeting. Immediate benefits will be improved patient evaluations, while future applications will likely improve laser (and possibly pharmacologic) vitreolysis of vitreous disorders.
