Okay so this guy Dave 50, been an electrician forever just got pulled into mandatory HR training.

Two hours.

Corporate decided everyone needs the same module. And I mean everyone. The guy wiring commercial buildings in a lift? Same training as the marketing intern making TikToks.

So Dave sits there. Some HR consultant with a tablet runs through scenarios.

“When your colleague shares an idea, try saying ‘I appreciate your perspective.’”

He’s been training apprentices for decades. Teaching kids how to not electrocute themselves. He knows how to talk to people.

Then it gets better.

There’s a whole section on remote work-life balance. Digital workspace ergonomics. Brother, this man’s workspace is a tool belt and a ladder.

His work-life balance? Whether the job site’s powered up by 7 AM.

He told me afterward he kept thinking about Thursday’s panel upgrade. Actual work that needs planning.

While some 28-year-old teaches him about psychological safety in collaborative environments.
