Picky eater at home? You’re not alone. The goal is to find simple, nutrient-dense foods your child will love. Here are a few of my go-to options for picky eaters:

🥚 Eggs: easy, versatile, and packed with protein for growing bodies
🥑 Avocado: full of healthy fats to support brain development
🍠 Sweet potatoes: naturally sweet and rich in fiber and vitamins
🫐 Berries: a kid-friendly way to add antioxidants and immune support
🌾Quinoa: naturally gluten-free, packed with vitamins & minerals, and a complete protein too

Small changes can make a big difference over time. Sometimes it’s not about changing everything but about choosing a few better options and building from there.

If you’re struggling with picky eating, I’m here to help you find what works for your child.

April is Autism Awareness Month. Every child experiences the world in their own unique way, and that individuality deserves to be understood, supported, and celebrated. At Integrative Pediatrics, I take a personalized approach to care. For some families, that may include exploring nutrition, gut health, sensory support, and underlying factors that can impact focus, behavior, and overall well-being. My goal is never to change who a child is; it’s to support how they feel, function, and thrive so they can be the best they can be!

If you have questions, concerns, or just want a deeper understanding of your child’s needs, I’m here to help guide you.

Ask Mariel: What’s the difference between PANS and PANDAS?
Both conditions can cause sudden changes in a child’s behavior, mood, or neurological function, often including anxiety, OCD behaviors, or emotional shifts. The key difference is the trigger. PANDAS is linked specifically to strep infections, while PANS may be triggered by other infections or immune system stressors.

Identifying the underlying cause is an important step in helping children recover and regain balance. If you’re noticing sudden behavioral changes in your child, let’s get to the root of the problem.

Healthy fats are one of the building blocks of growing bodies. They support brain development, hormones, energy, and nutrient absorption in children. Foods like avocados, olive oil, nuts, seeds, and fish provide the healthy fats that help kids grow strong and feel their best. Small choices at the table can make a big difference in your child’s long-term health. Feed them well. Help them thrive. 🥑❤️

This International Women's Day, we aren’t just celebrating how far we’ve come, but focusing on the foundation that keeps us going. As a woman-owned practice, I know that when we prioritize our health, our families and communities thrive. One of the most overlooked "superpowers" in a woman’s wellness toolkit? Protein. 🥩🫘

It’s more than just a macronutrient; it’s the building block for:
➡️Hormonal harmony
➡️Bone & muscle strength
➡️Immune defense
➡️Making enzymes and hormones
➡️Storing nutrients
➡️Source of energy

Good sources of protein include:
➡️Quinoa - complete protein, naturally gluten-free
➡️Eggs
➡️Meat and fish
➡️Nuts and seeds

Today, let’s honor the strength of women and the simple, daily choices, like fueling our bodies well, that make that strength possible. How are you fueling your "superpowers" today?

When a child comes into my office, I take my time and look at the whole picture. 💛

I focus on four important areas:

🧪 Vitamin and mineral deficiencies
🦠 Infections
🌿 Allergies
🧬 Toxin exposure, including MTHFR, and how your child’s body detoxifies

These are often the missing pieces that can impact how a child feels, grows, and thrives.

That’s why the lab work I order is thorough. I want parents to have real answers and children to get the support they truly need.

Children are our future. Let’s help them thrive.
