Let's hear it for Sally, Resident Council President and Resident Ambassador at Atria El Camino Gardens! Not only is she a wonderful neighbor and leader, but she also keeps the community's courtyard looking beautiful with her love of gardening.

Her green thumb doesn't stop there. Her apartment is lush with plants of all varieties.

Sally says, “The residents and staff here are number one. I love the food, activities and my apartment. Our transportation, housekeeping and maintenance are the best!"

We took a bite out of the Big Apple at our Taste of Manhattan culinary event! 🍎🗽🚕

We enjoyed cups of deli chicken soup, corned beef sandwiches with slaw on rye, a side of Waldorf salad and for dessert, a classic black and white cookie!

To top it off, we watched the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces, a classic rom-com set in the city starring Barbra Streisand and Jeff Bridges.

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

We hosted ice cream tasting today, and things got heated (but in a delicious way!) Every single flavor was YAMM!🍨🍦🍨 We witnessed an intense, high stakes debate over which flavor was the absolute best. Arguments were made, spoons were shaken, but of course… no decision could be reached. Turns out, all ice cream is “best” when you have friends to share it with!😀😍👍

"The Styrofoam Blues' never sounded so good!🎶

The resident-led Sustainability Committee at Atria at the Arboretum turned recycling education into a show-stopping performance! Along with a reminder of what materials can be recycled, the residents sang “The Styrofoam Blues” – a soulful reminder that clean Styrofoam can now be turned in at a station on every floor. From there it will be taken to a specialized drop-off location and reused.

From catchy lyrics to community action, these eco-champions are proving that going green can be fun, musical and full of heart. 💚

Our “Taste of Manhattan” was a hit – a journey back to the heart of the city our residents love so dearly. We transformed our space into the vibrant pulse of NYC, where the simple joy of a bagel and a donut awakened many stories of the past. Laughter filled the air during our “Central “Park” picnic as funky city music played, but the room truly came alive when we sang “New York, New York” together. It was a soulful moment of connection that brought happy tears to many eyes – a beautiful afternoon where the energy of the city met the quiet warmth of home.😊🥰😍🌹💐🌺🌼

For more than 15 years, Eileen has dedicated her life to caring for others, but her journey didn’t begin in a classroom or a training program. It began at home. “My journey started by taking care of my mom and dad. That’s where I discovered my love for caregiving – and my gift for it.”

From supporting children with special needs to working with older adults with dementia, she spent her career standing beside those who needed support the most.

“I like to think that I’m walking alongside my seniors during the most important chapter in their lives," she shares of her role as a Community Health Aide at Atria Park of Lynbrook. "Every day I strive to make a difference, to bring a smile, to create comfort and to help make their golden years truly feel golden."

For Eileen, it’s about giving each resident personal attention – taking the time to talk, listen and bond. To make someone feel seen. “I hope to inspire others to become caregivers. This work comes from the heart."

"Atria Bethlehem helped residents share their love of reading with the youngsters," shares the family member of resident Sal, who was one of the volunteer readers to read at a local elementary school. "We are so proud of Sal, and we are so appreciative that you helped bring smiles to the residents and the children!"

The men's group at Atria Maplewood Place found a great way to give back. 🐾

After a trip to the hardware store, they got to work building dog beds from PVC pipe. The guys jumped right in – measuring, cutting pipe, putting the frames together and screwing down the fabric. They had a great time using tools and showing off their skills.

Lots of teamwork, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of pride in a job well done. Days like this remind us that experience never fades – it just waits for the right project. 💙

"When I moved into my wonderful apartment at Atria Bell Court Gardens, I expected a life free from worry about personal safety, shopping, cooking and the nightly kitchen cleanup," shares resident Barbara. "I got that and so much more!"

Barbara's fellow residents recently took a trip to visit her art studio. They shared lunch, talked about Barbara's art and learned about her life as an artist. Her journey is truly incredible!

Barbara adds, "I did not expect to get a whole new group of kind and supportive friends, well-traveled dinner party conversationalists, and so many smart and art-loving people with my kind of sense of humor."

Hosting the Girl Scouts today was an absolute joy. Between the singalongs, homemade treats, and competitive games of tic-tac-toe, their energy was truly infectious. Some girls have already "adopted" a grandparent, forming a bond that beautifully bridges the generations. These connections give our residents a renewed sense of purpose, while the girls discover that living history is sitting right across the table. Everyone had such fun, and we’re already dreaming up our next projects to keep these wonderful new friendships growing.
