Finally, hormones for women are gaining steam again, bringing health and vitality back that has been denied an entire generation due to false fears. But with any development in healthcare, there are those seeing dollar signs. No woman should be denied treatment because she doesn't have access to a blood test, and that is evidence based. However, that doesn't mean that that should become the default setting that companies build their practice on to oversimplify for convenience of driving volume and profit. Each person is unique and has individual health needs. Blanket approaches are for volume and profit.

There's a common theme with perimenopause- and that is weight that just isn't coming off anymore. Despite eating the same, or even trying different diet approaches, sometimes the pounds just hold strong, or plateau and then slowly climb again over time. There are many different things we can look at when it comes to weight loss. First, I'd want to see if there are any clues to your stubborn weight in your labs and in your health history. I can't tell you how many patients have come to me frustrated, hearing the same thing over and over from their providers, "that's normal," or "there's nothing wrong," and go on continuing to feel awful, knowing that there is something off with their bodies.

The truth is, MOST doctors don't practice functional and integrative medicine, which looks into the cause of symptoms, and then treats them through a holistic lens- not just prescription pills that defer the problem down the road.

If you don't feel well, you likely aren't well- our bodies know. A healthy body feels healthy. A healthy mind thinks clearly, and has a normal range over emotions that does not include severe anxiety, depression, or burn-out.
