A little rant- 😉
We get a lot of patients being told Cholesterol-lowering Statin drugs cause Dementia and are very resistant to taking them. I think this is coming because of random people saying it on social media. Those influencers are ignoring A LOT of evidence showing Statins DECREASE the risk of Dementia. This meta-analysis of 50 studies involving *11 million* people shows a decrease risk of Dementia with Statin use.
Statins are one of the most powerful, cheap, easy meds we have to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Would we love everyone to have a great diet/lifestyle and perfect genetics to avoid heart attacks? Yes! Is that the reality, No! Sometimes we have to intervene to prevent the bad outcomes.
