Here’s what patients often misunderstand about breast lift surgery:

As a board-certified plastic surgeon, one of the most common areas of confusion is what a breast lift is designed to achieve, and what it is not.

1️⃣ A lift does not create volume.
It repositions the breast and elevates the ni**le, restoring a more youthful shape, but it does not add fullness.

2️⃣ “Perkiness” is often misinterpreted.
From a surgical standpoint, it refers to ni**le position in relation to the breast crease, not upper fullness.

3️⃣ This is where expectations matter.
Many patients desire both lift and fullness, but a lift alone will not achieve that outcome.

4️⃣ Fullness requires volume.
To achieve a rounder, fuller contour, especially without support, an implant or fat transfer may be recommended in combination with a lift.

5️⃣ The best results are individualized.
A thoughtful surgical plan often involves addressing both position and volume to create balance and proportion.

A breast lift can restore position, but it does not replace volume that is no longer there.
