Woodlands was proud to host Marshall University President Brad Smith this afternoon as he spent time with the Emeritus Chapter and Woodlands residents, sharing reflections on his tenure as president and his vision for the future of Marshall.

Pictured is President Smith with Mary Margaret King, President of the Woodlands Chapter of the Marshall University Foundation and Alumni Association, during a memorable visit that highlighted the strong and lasting connection between Woodlands and Marshall University.

This afternoon, we celebrated one of the most heartwarming events of the year - our annual Employee Gratuity Party! Throughout the year, our incredible staff pour their energy, compassion, and heart into making Woodlands feel like home… and today, our residents had the joyful chance to say a big, heartfelt THANK YOU. ❤️

Thanks to a special resident-driven fund, our team received over $132,000 in gratuities this year! From dining and nursing to housekeeping, maintenance, activities, and more, every corner of Woodlands felt the love and appreciation.

We’re truly grateful for the hardworking, dedicated individuals who serve our community each day, and for the residents who continue to uplift and celebrate them.

Cheers to gratitude, togetherness, and the people who make Woodlands shine brighter than ever!

We're proud to share that our Woodlands Chapter of Marshall University Foundation and Alumni Association raised over $600 to help provide Marshall University students in need with a Thanksgiving meal. Woodlands Director of Marketing Larry Crum presented the check to Marcie Simms, Vice President of Student Affairs. We’re grateful to our residents for their generosity and for supporting our community in such meaningful ways.

Today, we proudly celebrated Veterans Day with a special ceremony presented by the Buford Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The event included a moving presentation of colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and patriotic songs honoring each branch of our nation’s military.

It was a beautiful tribute to the men and women of our Woodlands community who have served our country with courage and honor. ❤️💙
