Custom orthotics can be a game changer for patients dealing with foot pain, instability, and everyday discomfort. At Advanced Foot Care, we love helping patients stay active with a non-invasive, non-surgical option that’s designed specifically for their feet.

Using plaster impression molds, our team creates custom foot orthotics tailored from toe to heel so each patient gets the support they actually need. The goal is simple: keep you comfortable, keep you moving, and help prevent that pain from coming back.

If your feet are bothering you, it may be time to find out whether custom orthotics are the right fit for you.

We rely on our feet every single day… more than we even realize.

But most people don’t think about them until something goes wrong. Pain, stiffness, discomfort… suddenly every step feels different, your mood shifts, and your daily life is impacted.

What many don’t realize is that staying active and walking comfortably plays a major role in keeping your mind sharp. When movement slows down due to foot pain, it can affect more than just mobility.

Taking care of your feet isn’t just about comfort… it’s about your overall health.

A lot of people think orthotics are just soft cushions for their shoes, but that’s not really what custom orthotics are designed to do.

At Advanced Foot Care, we create customized insoles to help support and control the foot properly. If your foot is collapsing, flattening, or moving out of alignment, you need something with structure and rigidity to help hold it in a more neutral position. That support can make a big difference in comfort, balance, and the way your body handles pressure while walking.

Custom orthotics are corrective devices, not just padding, and that’s exactly why they can be so effective.

What started as a practice rooted in compassion and quality care has grown into 8 locations across Long Island, with top-rated doctors who never want patients to feel rushed or overlooked. Even as we’ve grown, our goal has stayed the same: provide expert treatment with the warm, family office feel people deserve.

Pain in your feet, knees, hips, or lower back may all be more connected than you think. The body works as a kinetic chain, which means when one area is off, it can affect everything above it. A poor foundation at the feet can contribute to knee pain, hip pain, and even lower back discomfort.

That’s why evaluating foot function is about more than just the foot itself. In some cases, the problem may actually be coming from a pinched nerve, a slipped disc, or another issue higher up the chain. A podiatrist can help identify the source and guide you to the right specialist when needed.

If you’ve been dealing with pain and are not sure where it’s really coming from, it may be time to get it checked out.

Foot surgery starts long before the day of the procedure. At our practice, we make sure patients feel informed, prepared, and confident every step of the way. From bunions and hammertoes to neuromas and tailor’s bunions, we walk through the anatomy, the procedure, anesthesia options, recovery expectations, and everything patients need to do before surgery. Most of our surgeries are outpatient, and most patients have local anesthesia with light sedation for a quicker recovery experience.

Patient education matters because when you know what to expect, the whole process feels less stressful and a lot more manageable.

For two years, bunion pain made everyday life uncomfortable. Even wearing normal shoes became impossible.

After visiting Advanced Foot Care, this patient had a bunionectomy and hammertoe correction, and within just the first week she was already feeling relief.

Now she’s excited about something most people take for granted…
being able to wear her favorite shoes again without pain.

Stories like this are why we love what we do. Helping patients walk comfortably again can truly change lives.

If bunions or hammertoes are causing you daily pain, there are solutions that can help restore comfort and mobility.

Your bunion isn’t just a bump… it’s a bone alignment problem.

A bunion deformity happens when the first and second metatarsal bones drift apart, creating an angle that pushes the big toe inward. Over time this can cause pain, swelling, and difficulty wearing shoes.

In this case, the patient had a 17° metatarsal angle, when ideally we want it under about 5 to 7 degrees.

To correct it, we performed an Austin bunionectomy, which involves removing the bump, making a precise V-shaped bone cut, shifting the bone back into proper alignment, and securing it with screws.

An additional Akin osteotomy was performed to further straighten the big toe using a small wedge correction and fixation.

The procedure takes 30 to 40 minutes, and most patients:

• Wear a walking boot for about 4 weeks
• Transition to a sneaker around week 4 or 5
• Reach full healing around week 7 to 8

Modern bunion correction techniques allow patients to recover quickly and get back to normal activity sooner.
