Kaitlin’s birth story is one I’ll carry with me for a long time. 💫
Friday morning she saw Dr. Daniell for a sweep — and by that evening, things were picking up. She texted me around 7, saying contractions were getting stronger, but her anxiety about the intensity was building too. I sent her some encouragement and a few progression videos, and she got in the shower to reset and breathe.
By 9:30, Blaine texted that things were escalating and they were headed to the hospital. When I arrived, she was already 4cm and considering an epidural. I asked if I could come first and offer some support… and she said yes.
I watched this powerful woman lean into the moment. She moved through labor with such bravery — breathing, shifting, listening to her body. At one point, she tried nitrous for a bit of relief. It gave her just enough space to catch her breath and keep going.
She didn’t just cope — she labored with intention. With strength. With softness. With trust.
Baby Harrison made his arrival just after 4am at 41+1… no stitches, no interventions, and already latched within minutes. As Kaitlin held him for the first time, the lyrics playing softly in the room said it all:
“I knew I loved you before I met you” was playing so sweetly in the background.
And she really did.
