I wanted to remind everyone that the Clinic is not being held this Fall due to the rise in COVID cases, the low vaccination rates and the fact that the track we use is so small. That being said, the State Women Run Arkansas recently announced that this Fall clinic will mark the end of the Women Run Arkansas Program. Following is a message from the Women Run Arkansas Board President making this announcement. This saddens me as I had hoped to continue the program in Huntsville for years to come. Perhaps some of us could get together in the Spring and come up with an alternative for Huntsville. If anyone has an interest in being a part of that, please let me know.
Hi ladies this is Naomi Sexson and I am the board president of WRA.
After much discussion and hard conversations we, as a board, have decided that 2021 will be the year we close the book on Women Run Arkansas.
When this organization was started, 24 years ago, it was in direct response to a need for women to meet together and promote women's health through running and walking activities.
I have been blessed to be part of the WRA and see directors, leaders and participants take on the mission of promoting women's health, women encouraging women to keep moving and to make their health a priority. Leaders and participants have continued with their clinic groups encouraging each other all year long to keep moving.
We want to encourage all the directors as well as participants to continue encouraging women, joining forces with other local running clubs, run local races as a group, meet up for hikes, anything to get out there and keep moving those parts.
Take care my friends.
