Huntsville AR Ladies Walk/Run 4 Fun

Huntsville AR Ladies Walk/Run 4 Fun Free training program for women of all ages and abilities to learn to run or walk with 5k graduation event

I wanted to remind everyone that the Clinic is not being held this Fall due to the rise in COVID cases, the low vaccination rates and the fact that the track we use is so small. That being said, the State Women Run Arkansas recently announced that this Fall clinic will mark the end of the Women Run Arkansas Program. Following is a message from the Women Run Arkansas Board President making this announcement. This saddens me as I had hoped to continue the program in Huntsville for years to come. Perhaps some of us could get together in the Spring and come up with an alternative for Huntsville. If anyone has an interest in being a part of that, please let me know.

Hi ladies this is Naomi Sexson and I am the board president of WRA.
After much discussion and hard conversations we, as a board, have decided that 2021 will be the year we close the book on Women Run Arkansas.
When this organization was started, 24 years ago, it was in direct response to a need for women to meet together and promote women's health through running and walking activities.
I have been blessed to be part of the WRA and see directors, leaders and participants take on the mission of promoting women's health, women encouraging women to keep moving and to make their health a priority. Leaders and participants have continued with their clinic groups encouraging each other all year long to keep moving.
We want to encourage all the directors as well as participants to continue encouraging women, joining forces with other local running clubs, run local races as a group, meet up for hikes, anything to get out there and keep moving those parts.

Take care my friends.

To the wonderful ladies that have participated in the past, and planned to participate, in this walking/running group this Fall, I’m sorry to announce we will not be having the clinic. The State WRA announced this week it could be held VIRTUAL ONLY. My fear is if I offer virtual, ladies will still gather at the Senior Center track. I believe with the delta variant increasing cases, the low vaccine rate in our county and the limited space we have on a 1/3 mile track, the risk of adding COVID cases is too great. I started this program to promote health and well-being for women. Offering such a program at this time does not support that initiative. It is my plan to lead a ladies walking/running group again at some time in the future when life is back to normal. I miss you all. Stay safe my friends.

Below you will see a message from the State WRA Directors. It's great news to hear they have moved the training clinics from Spring to Fall this year. Due to this change I do plan to again lead the Huntsville WRA clinic. Of course, it will depend on the state of COVID-19. However, I hope you add the dates to your calendar. This gives us all something to look forward to and encourages us to keep up our workouts in anticipation of getting together in a few months. Take care my friends and stay healthy.

WRA Nation - News Flash -
2020 brought us many challenges and thus the clinic went virtual shortly after we started in March 2020. As we navigate into 2021 with hopes of a vaccine, that will help with herd immunity etc., the WRA board had to make a few important decisions.
In order for ladies to get the most out of the clinic and graduation 5k we made the decision to move the clinic and race to the fall.
The new dates are:
Clinic starts the week of August 29, 2021 and culminates in the 5K on November 6, 2021 (10 week clinic).
We hope this move will allow us to have the clinic and race in person.
----ISO--------
Since we all have been living differently these past 10 months if you find yourself with more time on your hands, or a New Years resolution to give back to to the community or a desire to donate your time, we are always looking for directors and leaders as well as anyone wanting to start up a clinic in a specific area. If you are interested please email us at wrasecretary1@gmail.com
We miss your faces, smiles, laughs and enthusiasm and can not wait to see what the fall brings us. We hope to see you all there along with many new faces. Start spreading the word ladies and get your squads together and ready for WRA fall clinic 2021!!!

Dear Ladies of Huntsville WRA 5k Training Clinic, it is after much thought and prayer and with sadness that I let you know I will not be offering the 5k Training Clinic for 2021. My joy in leading the group in 2018, 2019 and the start of 2020 was meeting you and getting to know you. With little to no interaction with you, and the fact that COVID cases are continuing to increase, I feel this is not the time to offer the program. However, barring anything unexpected I do plan to start it up again in 2022. I miss you and hope and pray you stay safe. Take care good friends.

Let me know if you have questions about participating. If anyone needs information on how to sign up, how to post your results, when you will receive your metal and t-shirt, let me know and I'll re-post all of the information. If anyone wants to attend a local 5k, Berryville is still planning the Ice Cream Social 5k on June 13 - it was the very first 5k I ever ran - that was in 1980 so I plan to celebrate by running it this year for a 30 year anniversary - I still have my t-shirt and plan to wear it. Ladies, if you are planning to do the 5k, please see the post I put out a few minutes ago. There is no race in Conway. Everyone that wants to participate will do a virtual race. Once Clinic is over (our last day was to be May 7), you can walk/run your 5k on your own time. You have until May 31 to complete and post a selfie with " " and " ". Unless you signed up to go run in Conway, your packet (shirt and metal) will be in the mail by June 1st according to State. I'm still waiting to hear how they handle those that signed up for Conway. All of this makes me so sad because of all the time I've missed with each of you and watching your progress. We do have next year to look forward to. I got a 4 miler in today and it felt great. Exercise always makes us feel better. Take care.

One day I won’t be able to do this,
today is not that day

Walker Group A
• Walk at own steady pace (30 – 45 minutes)
• Cool down stretches

Walker Group B
• Walk slow 1 minute; Walk fast 9 minutes (4 times)
• Cool down stretches

Beginning Runner Group A

To the Huntsville ladies planning to participate in the WRA 5k. The following was sent from State regarding the 5k:

Just want to take a minute and let you know where we are. There are a lot of questions coming in regarding our switch to virtual. Hopefully, this will help!

· The LAST DAY to register and get a shirt is April 30th. There will be NO extra shirts ordered.

· You can continue to register and receive our gorgeous medal through May 15th.

· ALL registrations are virtual. You seriously cannot mess that up.

· If you register for the virtual option, you will have a packet mailed directly to you as you will have paid for shipping.

· Delivery of all other packets is currently TBD. A decision will be made based on current government regulations in May.

· All packets will be on their way by June 1st.

· To log your run, you simply need to post a selfie of your darling finisher’s smile and hashtag and

We are so very proud of you! Your success is our joy! Congratulations in advance to each finisher!
