We just received some great news! 🗞️

The Alabama Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services, has re-certified Huntsville Hospital as the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center through 2028. 🏥

The state’s three Level 1 Trauma Centers (the others are in Birmingham and Mobile) have the expertise, equipment and 24/7 capabilities to treat the most severe, life-threatening injuries. 🩹🩺💉🩻

This year alone, our Emergency Department, Operating Room, ICUs, post-surgical and supporting departments will care for about 2️⃣,5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ trauma patients. 🚑

Matthew Seaman, MD, is the newest member of our highly-skilled trauma surgery team.

Dr. Seaman just moved to the Rocket City after finishing a one-year surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Rochester in New York – where he also graduated from medical school and completed his residency in general surgery.

He is board-certified in general surgery and practiced as a general surgeon in Anniston from 2022-2024.

Dr. Seaman grew up in New Hampshire and enjoys running, biking, skiing, cooking, sailing, water sports, photography and spending time with his wife, Claire. Welcome to North Alabama! 💚👋
