Established in 1895, Huntsville Hospital serves as regional referral and trauma center for more than a million people in north Alabama and southern Tennessee. A not-for-profit institution, Huntsville Hospital is governed by the Health Care Authority of the City of Huntsville and is the second largest hospital in Alabama. In recent years, the hospital has expanded its service throughout the region with the development of Huntsville Hospital Health System, which includes hospitals in these Alabama counties: Madison (Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, Madison Hospital), Limestone (Athens-Limestone Hospital), Morgan (Decatur Morgan Hospital: Decatur General & Parkway campuses), Colbert (Helen Keller Hospital) and Franklin (Red Bay Hospital). Paxton and Vivian cleaned up nicely this weekend 🐾✨

Two of our favorite facility dogs traded their hospital badges for a bowtie and bling at The Dog Ball, an annual fundraiser benefiting the Greater Huntsville Humane Society. This fun and very fancy evening supports a no-kill shelter dedicated to the humane care and compassionate treatment of animals in our community.

We are proud of this good boy and girl, along with Vivian’s handler Angel and the Hospice Family Care team, for representing HH and supporting this cause. 💚

Talk about a full-circle moment—Christy Plemons is now leading the HH Emergency Department where she started her nursing career nearly 30 years ago! 🔄

From her early days as a paramedic and MedFlight nurse to her recent leadership roles in cardiology, Christy’s heart has always been in trauma care. 🚨

"Trauma is all I ever wanted to do,” she said. “When you focus under pressure and it works, you make a huge difference."

Christy’s family has deep ties to Huntsville Hospital—her daughter Erin works for HH Environmental Services, and her sister Carissa is the director of HH Hospice Family Care.

When she’s not busy managing our ER, you can find Christy cheering on the Grissom High softball team or catching a horror flick. 🥎🍿
