Today on World Prematurity Day, we celebrate the tiniest fighters and share our hope that they have strong starts for a hopeful future. In the United States there are around 370,000 premature births each year, or 1 in 10 babies born too soon. 👶🏻

Behind every premature baby, there's a family facing uncertainty and fear and deserving the same support as their babies. At North Alabama Newborn Nurse, we're here for families no matter how their journey begins. 💙

Welcome to “No”vember,” where we practice one of the most important words in early motherhood: no. 🍂

Because sometimes “no” is what keeps your baby’s world peaceful.
It’s what protects bonding time, rest, and your confidence as a new parent.

Every family deserves the space to ease into these early weeks without outside pressure or comparison. This month, we’re learning to say no to what overwhelms us and yes to what nourishes us.

Today is World Diabetes Day - a day dedicated to bringing awareness to the physical and mental challenges of diabetes. Gestational diabetes, or diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy, impacts up to 9% of pregnancies in the U.S. according to diabetes.org.

While the exact cause of gestational diabetes is unknown, we know that the placenta's hormones can play a role in blocking the mother's insulin and the body's ability to use it effectively. Despite this, gestational diabetes is treatable, temporary, and can be managed to allow a healthy pregnancy and baby. 💙

We at North Alabama Newborn Nurse want expectant families to know that gestational diabetes is NOT a sign of failure or that anything was done wrong. With the help of your medical practitioner, you can manage your insulin levels and take the steps toward a healthy pregnancy and baby.

It’s no secret that the world feels heavy lately. Negativity is loud, especially online… but kindness still matters. Today and everyday we're encouraging small, simple, everyday kindness. The kind that softens edges, changes moments, and reminds us that we’re all human; we all have struggles, challenges, joys, heartbreaks. We are all just doing our best.
