How about a Huntsville Pub Run update?

Our month long "residency" at Back Forty Beer Company has come and gone. We chose to do it because of the unpredictable weather and it was. Our runs were, warm, damp, wet and cold. And we still had over 600 show up in those 4 weeks.

February started with a trip to Campus 805 and a bone chiller. I expected a small turnout. But as 5:30 rolled around, the parking lot filled. Runners, walkers and ruckers picked up routes from my freezing fingers which failing at the task. A brief welcome and Run #456 started with me yelling to "get out of here." Lets just call it brain freeze, okay?

The final tally thanks to "clickers" Kevin and Isaac, 148! In spite of the weather conditions, I'm thankful that people show up each week to run and spend time with their friends. And maybe a beer too. And yummy cake, thanks to Amy.

The joy of having new runners join us never ends. We celebrate our growth but also hurt when we are friends follow new opportunities. This week we say goodbye to Nick Roman. We all wish you the best as you head out for your next great adventure. Know that we are behind you 100% and expect to see you again when you visit. Keep brightening the world with your smile!

Nice article by Lucy Yarbrough. Got some info on three of my favorites; Huntsville Pub Run, Rise & Shine and Hays Farm parkrun.

Huntsville is a Runner Friendly Community. The RRCA’s Runner Friendly Community program recognizes communities that excel in supporting runners and encourages others to follow their lead.

Last week in January and we finish our residency at Back Forty Beer Company Huntsville tonight. 3 weeks in and different weather each week.

Jan 7 - Warm and dry 236 Runners
Jan 14 - Rain prior 140 Runners
Jan 21 - Rain before and during 82 Runners
Jan 28 - Clear and cold

Your next race might be cold, just ask those that ran Mountain Mist. If they can run 50K in the cold/ice, you can certainly run 3 or 5 in temps above freezing.

Remember your warm hoodies for post run and your lights. And don't ever park at Bullet & Barrel.

Just a reminder, the Huntsville Pub Run happens rain or shine. Hot or cold. Today will likely be one of those days, but I expect the rain will be light and primarily this afternoon.

Bring something dry/warm to put on post run. Back Forty is large enough to hold all of us inside after the run.

Remember your lights (and gloves). And don't park at Bullet & Barrel.

Going to try something new in 2026. The Huntsville Pub Run in Strava Clubs has grown to 694 members. Many are regular Pub Runners and some used to be Pub Runners. And I guess the rest are wannabe Pub Runners. If you are on Strava you can find us at https://www.strava.com/clubs/341165

Calling all of our Inflatable friends. The RCM Marathon team has reached out and asked us to support the RCM 1 Mile Family Friendly Run/Walk. Can you imagine how much fun the kids and parents will have with our energy and enthusiasm in our inflatables.

Here are the preliminary details:
When: Saturday, Dec. 13th Approx. 9:30am- 11:00am
Where: VBC Start (Monroe Street) & Finish (Inside South Hall)

Everyone that has an inflatable and would like to participate is welcome. The Fun Run will be after the 5K. Inflatables do not have to run the course!

If you are willing to volunteer and have a "suitable" family friendly inflatable please sign up. We are hoping for 20 or more to make this the best day ever for the kids.
