We are experiencing ๐๐ฑ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ & ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ฌ.
We've always engaged in life-saving because we believe itโs the ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐จ, so instead of producing a euthanasia list, we have compiled a new โ๐๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ข๐โ List with the ๐๐จ๐ ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ฏ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐จ ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ก๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ โ whether adoptive or foster homes, or another organizationโs program or rescue. If the community can step up to help us save these dogs, it allows our staff and volunteers the opportunity to give time to the dogs with higher needs, so that ultimately, ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ฏ๐๐.
We have 188 dogs here. Our maximum ๐๐
๐๐๐ capacity for dogs is 110. Many of these dogs are from legal cases and must remain at the shelter pending those outcomes. The โPreventing Euthanasiaโ List aims to reduce the number of dogs in the shelter through adoptions, fosters, or rescues for these 11 dogs by the end of the weekend.
We have only been able to maintain our no-kill status through the communityโs support - your support - but this is an ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐, and so we are calling on the community to step up with ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.
Adoptions for any of the dogs on the โPreventing Euthanasiaโ List are just $๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐. For priority service, appointments may be scheduled by emailing adoption@wilco.org. Walk-ins are welcomed too. Residents who are able to help out through fostering are encouraged to come to the shelter during normal business hours of noon-6 p.m.
