The American Heart Association’s theme for heart month is BUILDING A NATION OF LIFESAVERS. When a cardiac emergency happens, the person best positioned to help isn't always a professional—it’s whoever is nearby.
Cardiac arrest is unpredictable. It can happen at the gym, the grocery store, or on the sidelines of a soccer game. Currently, bystanders step in only 40% of the time, often because they aren't sure what to do.
You don't need a medical background to help someone survive; you just need the right tools and the confidence to use them. CPR can save lives.
For Adults & Teens: Hands-Only CPR can double or triple the chance of survival.
For Infants & Children: Standard CPR (including breaths) is vital.
