Your knees shouldn’t hurt when going down the stairs. This client is a high level athlete who has to perform a ton of plyometrics, in repetitive sequences which aggravated the patellar tendon connecting to the shin bone. It’s also a very common repetitive strain that is seen in runners, and jumping exercises. I see you CrossFit. 👀 👀👀. Treatment can vary, from modification, eliminating any activities that worsen it(just temporarily), OTC anti inflammatories if ok with MD, and of course physical therapy with a home a home exercise program.
