Jimmy Joe “JJ” Myers, age 79, of Ulman, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his home with his wife and children holding his hands. He was born in Eldon on February 21, 1946, son of the late James and Helen (Apperson) Myers. On December 31, 1975, in Miami, Oklahoma, Jimmy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Peggy Rowland, who survives at their home. Together they shared two children, Dustin J. Myers and Morgan (Myers) Keeth.

In 1977, they built a log home on Highway C in Ulman and there they lived and raised their family for 50 years. Jim graduated from School of the Osage in 1964 and later attended Crowder College for two years before entering the Army where he honorably served in Vietnam from February 1967 to January 1969. After his service in the Army, he went to work for Westinghouse/ABB in Jefferson City, retiring in 2004 after 32 years of dedicated employment as a welder.

Over the years, Jim was involved in many community services including the VFW, Brumley Lions Club, and the Brumley Fire Protection District, holding offices in most of these organizations. Jim and Peggy were faithful members of the Lighthouse Baptist Church form 2004 to present day. He took great pride in lending a helping hand and being active in church, school, and community activities.

In his younger years he loved to ride horses and belonged to the Ulman Saddle Club for years, where he showed horses and even won a State Championship for Barrell Racing with his horse Peanuts. Jimmy was an avid hunter, going on many hunting trips with his father, James, and friends. He enjoyed fishing and having family and friends gather for big fish fry’s. He was full of love for his family, friends, and God

In addition to his wife Peggy Myers, he is also survived by his son, Dustin J. Myers of Ulman; daughter, Morgan L. (Jason) Keeth of Iberia; three grandchildren, Ariel (Ben) Bell, Ashton (Zach) Brown, and Moriah Keeth; three great-grandchildren, Bryn Hammack, Corbin Bell, and Bennett Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a huge host of family and friends. Jim also had a best friend, Doug Spriggs, who was the brother he never had. They spent many days hunting, fishing, and vacationing all over the United States making beautiful memories with their wives, Christii and Peggy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Myers.

Jim’s heart was as big as the outdoors that he loved to spend time in. Always helping someone in need or volunteering to coach his son’s little league team, ride horses with his daughter, or take his granddaughters on a tractor or four-wheeler ride…..he loved it all. He is going to be so missed!
