Due to the recent snow storm, the cemetery is closed until driveways can be opened. There have been vehicles unable to get through the drifts recently and any damages will be assessed to the vehicle owners.

All Christmas wreaths/loose decorations must be removed from gravesites by APRIL 1. Any items not in vases or on the monument base will be removed to aid with mowing/trimming this year.

Today was an exciting day at the cemetery ! The Ida Grove Cemetery worked with the Van Houten Monument Co. with the purchase and installation of four columbariums. A columbarium is a structure with niches to place cremation urns in an above ground setting. The cemetery board would like to thank Josh Van Houten and his team for their expertise today and attention to detail. Josh and his team of professionals are so knowledgeable and helpful whether it’s a large purchase as this one or a personal monument.

Detour to Ida grove cemetery- to access cemetery go east through Ida Grove on 59/175 as if to Arthur. You can either turn north on Landmark Ave. and take one mile of gravel to 240th st. Then turn west and go 1/2 mile to cemetery. Or, if you prefer to stay on pavement continue on 59/175 to county pavement M25, turn north and go one mile, then turn west on 240th go 1 1/2 miles right to temporary cemetery entrance.

The Ida Grove Cemetery is closed to local traffic due to drifted snow and narrow driveways. Only funeral personnel are authorized to enter. The drives are 100% ice covered.

A reminder that the cemetery will begin its summer clean up days this Wednesday, July 5th. Any decorations, crosses, toys, figurines etc need to be taken by the family. If not the maintenance staff will be removing them in order to be able to mow and trim around the gravesites. One shepherd crook or decorative flag may stay in place. There is a complete list of the new rules concerning times of placement of decorations and also their removal. Thank you for your adherence to these new guidelines to help keep the cemetery looking well maintained.

After reviewing the past year and it's maintenance challenges, the Ida Grove Cemetery Board has come to the conclusion which dictates a change in cemetery policy. There was a newspaper article published in April and the full guidelines are posted inside the Cemetery Directory at the cemetery.
In short, cemetery clean up time will be the first full week in July. All decorations and containers located on the grave site must be removed unless they are in containers on the concrete foundation or on the monument. There will be a limit of ONE decorative flag or shepherds crook at each gravesite placed only on the north or south side.
Any loose toys, boxes, ornaments, figurines, vases or stuffed animals will need to be removed unless they are secured to the concrete foundation.
There are to be no glass containers at any time, rocks, or other similar items that can be projectiles.
PLease take time to read the full directive in the newspaper or at the Cemetery Directory building.

Notice: the Ida Grove Cemetery is officially restricting all traffic effective immediately in the cemetery due to ice formation. The drives are completely ice covered, and extremely hazardous especially on the hills. you enter at your own risk and are responsible for any damages you cause. Traffic is monitored.

02/28/2016

The Ida Grove Cemetery has been opened for community traffic. Please use caution driving the roads and stay on the pavement. The grass roadways are still very soft and traffic on them will leave deep ruts until the ground dries up further.

02/12/2016

As of February 12, 2016 all traffic into the Ida Grove Cemetery is suspended due to heavy snow creating high banks and blowing snow. All east/west roadways are 100% blown shut. With additional snow and windy conditions expected, conditions are extremely treacherous. Thank you for your patience and I will post when conditions allow for traffic once again.
