It's time to get your property cleaned up! Good time to gather up the flammables around your house and burn it now before it burns you later.

🔥 Burn Ban Lifted – October 14, 2025 🔥

The Boise County Commissioners have officially lifted the burn ban today.

If you plan to burn, here’s what you need to do:
✅ Obtain a burn permit through the Idaho Department of Lands website (link in comments).
✅ Call BCSO Dispatch at 208-392-4411 before you start burning.
✅ Use extreme caution — conditions can change quickly in the mountains.

Thank you for helping keep Boise County safe.

And I will add food and water if you're on a less traveled road or long road trip. Freeze dried food that's not affected by cold weather works well. If you have a slide off in the winter and can't get out of your car, you'll need something to eat until your found.

Winter Vehicle Emergency Safety Kit: (Bare minimum from Deputy Squatch)

1. Flashlight: Because stumbling around in the dark is only fun in horror movies.
2. Matches: For those times when rubbing two sticks together just doesn’t cut it.
3. Lighter: Because you never know when you'll need to signal a rescue helicopter... or light a candle.
4. Reflective Triangle: To convince aliens you're not worth abducting.
5. Duct Tape: The universal solution to... well, anything that moves but shouldn't.
6. Ice Scraper: Essential for seeing through your windshield, and for impromptu ice sculpture contests.
7. Jumper Cables: The only acceptable way to ask a stranger for a spark in your life.
8. Basic Hand Tools: So you can pretend to know what you're doing under the hood.
9. Blanket: For cozy naps while waiting for help, or to play a low-budget ghost in traffic.

Good advice!

Good advice!

Do you know the risk your pets can pose?

Pets are responsible for over 1,000 fires a year🔥
Make sure to keep flammable objects out of reach to your pets such as candles-secure loose wires-and make sure pets have no reason to be jumping on your counters or stove.

In the case of a fire it is good to know where your pets tend to hide when under duress, practice quick exits with them, and have their collars or leashes easily accessible

Hello again Boise County and Friends! Please see attached link for the flash flood watch for tonight and tomorrow. It's a very good ideas to make plans for the worst case scenario when it comes to flooding in the next couple of days (for all disasters really). If you are in the flood plane in Boise County, please have a plan to protect yourself, your pets and property if possible. Make sure you have plenty of food and especially water on hand as flooding usually causes mud slides in burn areas which is likely to affect community water systems. If possible, stay at home during heavy rains as you could get stranded and not be able to return to your home. And never, NEVER try to cross a flooding road if there's any doubt in your mind that you can't make it through safely. Be safe Boise County and Friends!!
