I was lucky enough to meet Michael Hiatt a couple of years ago. He was a mental health therapist and had worked in several schools around eastern Idaho as a school counselor. During that time it sounds like he was able to help countless number of students in the school setting and was ready to retire. As we talked over Michael’s career and the need for more mental health counselors in the community he decided to come out of retirement to help those suffering in our community.
We set Mike up as an outpatient therapist in our Idaho Falls office, working as an generalist he would see clients with several different diagnoses. Coming out of retirement he had planned on only working part time, but with his ability to help people, Michael quickly had many needing his help and his selflessness lead him to caring for them.
It is the selfless people like Michael Hiatt who make a difference in this world. I am so happy to have known Michael and the great man he was.
Rest In Peace Michael. God bless your family and the many many people you helped.
