Remember to "Rock your Socks" tomorrow (3/21) in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day.
World Down Syndrome Day was created to celebrate the lives of people with Down syndrome and to make sure they have the same freedoms and opportunities as everybody else.
21st March (21/3) matches the 3 copies of chromosome 21. This is unique to people with Down syndrome. When viewed under a microscope, the paired chromosomes are said to look somewhat like socks, with their distinct banding patterns.
World Down Syndrome Day has been an official part of the United Nations calendar since 2012.

A big shout out to Rich Media and Jolyn Thomas for hosting a community outing for DWI. Participants had the opportunity to tour the station, to practice speaking into a microphone and to learn how information gets onto the airwaves. Some definitely had their favorite station, whether it was 96.1 & 102.1 The Wolf , Star98, 94.9 & 104.5 The Pick or KID Newsradio.
It was a great educational and entertaining experience. Thank you again to Jolyn and the entire Rich Media team!

We recommend the following resource as potentially beneficial for families to utilize during this distinctive legislative session:
Governor Brad Little has proposed cutting all home and community based services for children and adults with disabilities in Idaho. This move would have profound impact on Idaho families, sacrificing our most vulnerable populations to meet a budget deficit.

This past Saturday, we had about 40 bowlers join us—along with many other members of the Salmon community—in support of DWI at our annual bowling tournament. A big shout‑out to Pins & Tips Bowling Alley for hosting the event. We truly appreciated the community’s turnout, as all of our silent auction and raffle items found good homes!
Some of our Idaho Falls staff made the trip to help our small but mighty Salmon team this weekend.
Thank you again to everyone who sponsored, donated, bowled, or participated in the raffles and auctions. We’re already looking forward to next year!

Today, DWI hosted the Blue and Gold Celebration for Explorer Post 559. Blue and Gold celebrations recognize the founding of the Boy Scouts of America back on February 8, 1010 by William Boyce and others. Post 559 is a Special Needs Post for Adults that uses the Scouting Program to guide their activities and create the foundation of Doing a Good Turn Daily. Post 559 is a part of Grand Teton Council, BSA.
This morning, we had the privilege of hosting Idaho Non-Profit Alliance meeting. It was a gathering of Idaho Falls' leading Non-Profit agencies coming together to discuss upcoming fundraising opportunities, share resources and exchange best practices. The group recognized that while the Idaho Falls community is very supportive of the needs of Non-Profits, maintaining transparency and clearly communicating outcomes remain essential.
As gala season (fundraising) kicks into gear and calendars fill with events, effective communication and collaboration among all the Non-Profits will be more important than ever.
The collective impact represented by all the agencies in the room was inspiring, and it is clear the Idaho Falls community is the true beneficiary of their combined good work.
