Enea Family Funeral Home

Enea Family Funeral Home The Enea, Ciaccia, Applegate and Day Funeral Directors have been serving the families of the Mohawk In August of 1969, Harry J. Enea, Jr.

began his career in funeral service assisting Edward Holleran in the operation of Holleran Funeral Service in Herkimer. In January of 1972, he obtained his NYS Funeral Director's license, and also formed the Enea Monument Company. In the early 1980's, he purchased the Herkimer location subsequently adding his name. Harry has ambitiously dedicated himself to the families of the Mohawk Valley and th

e surrounding areas, and is proud to say his son is equally dedicated and is continuing the tradition. In 1975 Harry began helping Thomas Konchar in running Konchar Funeral Home in Little Falls, eventually buying this firm, which is now the Enea Family Funeral Home. Subsequently, the Shepardson Funeral Home firm merged their business with the Enea Family, forming the Konchar-Enea and Shepardson Funeral Home. In 1992 a fellow colleague, Robert Woody who ran the Smith - Woody Funeral Home in St. Johnsville, NY, put his trust in our firm to carry on his name and provide the utmost service to his community. We were honored, and took this opportunity and were anxious to now serve the families of Montgomery County. The name was eventually changed to Enea Family Funeral Home and Kevin Enea is the Funeral Director in charge. Throughout the years Harry's son Kevin decided to join his father in giving the families of Montgomery and Herkimer Counties the attention and professionalism they deserved. He went on and obtained his Funeral Director's license in 1995. He joined the family business and brought forth many new ideas and concepts to the ever-changing funeral industry. Kevin, along with Harry's nephew, Jason Cacciatore, are now in charge of the Enea Memorial operation, which encompasses D.H. Burdick Monument Company in Clinton, NY and DeRegis Monuments of Syracuse, NY which were both acquired by the Enea family. He is also very active in the community and the operation of Enea Family Funeral Homes. Throughout the years our firm was approached by many funeral conglomerates throughout the country looking to acquire our business but we decided to stay family owned and operated. With that in mind, and with the addition of Harry's son, Kevin, and encouragement from many families in the Ilion and Frankfort area, we opened our newest funeral facility, the Enea Family Funeral Home, between Frankfort and Ilion, in 1999. The 6500 square foot facility includes a children's play room, ample parking, a monument office, casket and vault display, and two very large and spacious gathering rooms. This facility also houses our administrative offices, and is one of the most welcoming funeral homes in the Mohawk Valley. In July of 2004, the Enea, Applegate, and Day families came together to form a funeral home service that would jointly operate four funeral homes in the valley. The sum of Don Applegate, John Day and the Enea Family staff working together, meant significant opportunities for us to support every family's needs. The Applegate & Day Funeral Home and the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home have became completely independent and family-owned and are no longer affiliated with Stewart Enterprises Inc. Families will now be able to request the funeral director they prefer to arrange and direct their loved one's services. The Applegate Funeral Home was founded in 1919 by Don's grandfather and grandmother, Clayton and Marjorie Applegate. In September of 2016, Marty Ciaccia, a native of Frankfort and long-time licensed funeral director with the Enea firms, officially became a partner in the organization, and the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home was born. Our funeral directors and staff are proud of their commitment to the community they serve, and are dedicated, whole-heartedly, to creating an environment that makes our families feel safe and comfortable. They take pride in being Mohawk Valley residents and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. You can learn more about each of our funeral directors in the staff section of our website by clicking our staff bios.

MOHAWK - William “Loomy” D. Loomis, 69, passed away on April 20th, 2026, at Valley Health Services, with his wife and two daughters by his side. He fought his battle with cancer courageously until the very end.

Born on August 9th, 1956, Bill grew up and lived in Mohawk, New York. Alongside his siblings, he helped build the family camp on Canadarago Lake, where countless cherished memories were made. He loved waterskiing, boating, fishing, and anything that brought him onto the water. Some of his fondest memories were camping with his family and growing up on Garden Street. He also enjoyed golfing with his father.

Bill was an outstanding athlete who took great pride in his accomplishments in football and wrestling during his high school years. He graduated from Mohawk Central School in 1975. In 1978, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Kathi, and together they raised two daughters, Kasandra and Kelly.

He loved having many gatherings in his “man cave”. He was also an avid snowmobiler and enjoyed many rides with his close-knit group of friends.

In recent years, he took immense pride in his grandchildren, Lilly Marie and Axl William. Whether teaching them how to throw a baseball, showing them wrestling moves, finding worms after a rainstorm, fishing, or simply relaxing with Minions movies and junk food, he treasured every moment spent with them. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing more often, especially with his league, which included his son-in-law Paul and his dear friend George. He also cherished golfing with his sister Robbin and nephew McKensy, biking with his sister Laurie. Boat rides with his brother Mark and nephew Mark and fishing trips with his close friend Jimmy Monahan. He was always building or fixing something and took great care in keeping the birds fed at his feeders.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen (Sterling) Loomis; his daughters, Kasandra (Paul) Lebert and their son Axl, and Kelly (Jim) Baron and their daughter Lilly; his sisters, Laurie and Robbin Loomis, and nephew McKensy Reardon; his brother, Mark (Sue) Loomis, and nephew Mark; his loving father in-law Charles Sterling; his in-laws, Keith and Janet Sterling and their children Shelley and Chad; Samantha and Julia, Kevin and Terri Sterling and their children Matthew (Kate) and Marshall; Kolleen Rice and her daughter Rachel (Dan) Braund and their daughters Audi and Emmalyn; special cousin Todd Rankins and many special extended family members and friends, including John Glogowski, Jim Monahan, George Baron, Kevin Brown, Tom Phalen, Billy Jacquays, Nan Braund, and Danielle Morezek.

Throughout her school years she participated in AYSO soccer, Pop Warner cheerleading, CYO basketball, high school volleyball, track, cheerleading, and field hockey. She also participated in annual musicals, and NYSSMA. Ashley was one to try everything she could.

She was a member of the Mohawk VFD from 2016 to 2025, serving as volunteer, and then as department secretary for several years. In 2023 she was hired by the Ilion Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT and in 2025 she became a paramedic. She was also the secretary of Ilion Firefighters Association Local 1185.

Prior to becoming a professional firefighter, she was employed by the Manne Law Office in Herkimer of which she would say “Karl was a good person to work for”. Karl appreciated her work and treated her well. However, firefighting was her passion, she absolutely loved it. She had also worked for Mohawk Valley Ambulance Corps. and spent time helping Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Ashley loved the outdoors. She started camping before the age of one and never stopped. She loved hiking, fishing, hunting, target shooting, and sightseeing. She had recently discovered her love for traveling, visiting places like San Diego, Cape May, and quite a few Long Island beaches. In her travels, she was always sure to bring back a souvenir for her beloved nephews.

At home Ashley loved to bake and try new dishes. She had a knack for cooking. She also enjoyed reading, photography and painting canvases - which she often gifted to others. Her most recent hobby was keeping her house plants “alive”. It seems she was just starting to learn piano. Ashley cherished her time with all her nephews- giving them endearing nicknames and spoiling them whenever she could.

She is predeceased by Sharon “Aunt Sookie” Ashley, cousins Joseph Astalfa, and Rosalie Bristol.

Besides her parents, she leaves her boyfriend, Matt Allison, of Richfield, her sister, Vanessa Kennedy and nephews Cole Mills and Carter Kennedy (also known as “squish”), all of Ilion, her brother Dominick Kennedy, and partner Rob Hines, of Cicero; her sister Christina (Faubert) Marcantonio and brother-in-law Brian Marcantonio, and nephews Livio (also known as “golumpki”) and Brian (also known as “meatball”) of New Hartford.

She leaves many aunts and uncles: Joanne (Faubert) and Randy Astalfa of Marcy, Stanley and Suzanne Faubert of Marcy, Edward and Julie Faubert of Sauquoit, Mark Ashley and Lori Johnson of Ilion, Diane (Ashley) and Allen Baylor of Fairfield, William and Holly Ashley of Fairfield and family friend Barbara Marcin of Herkimer.

She leaves many cousins of whom she knew well: Courtney Astalfa, Michael Faubert, Vincent Faubert, Samantha (Faubert) and Kevin Bristol, Cheryl Faubert, Shaina (Faubert) and Cordell Stafford, Isabel Stafford, and Nina (Faubert) and Alex Hemingway, David and Jena Ashley- Lia, Hayden, and Luca, Eric and Jen Ashley- Henry, Cecelia, and Elianna.

Those who knew her loved to enjoy her smile, laughter, and kindness. She volunteered for many things in her short life. She had a heart of gold. She will be missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers we would encourage people to donate to the St Francis de Sales Early Childhood Education Program and Ilion Firefighters Association Local 1185.

The family highly encourages anyone who knew Ashley to register as an organ donor.
