As I’m approaching living in a horse trailer for coming two years in March, I’ve had a few thoughts come up that I’ve been wanting to share.
LIVE IN THE DANG HORSE TRAILER
Now I completely understand many and most never will, have no reason to, or just really don’t want to🤣 which by all means is totally fair, but I have a few reasons why living in a horse trailer the past while has given me more freedom and opportunity than I ever thought possible.
The biggest reason of all I continue to choose this is rent, why would I pay someone else’s mortgage off, when I get the opportunity to own this trailer instead, yes many are well off enough to afford both but that’s just not my cards or desire. I’ve moved way too much in the past two years from Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, back to Oklahoma, Texas a bit, then back to Nebraska, did a few day lay over in Alabama, and now Florida for the past few months before I head back home to Nebraska for the summer. A few trips to Arizona in the mix of that too. Now I don’t know about yall but first months rent, deposit, and rent for all that moving would have literally been impossible without me living in a trailer let alone the convenience and comfort of my home just being able to go with me. I’ve been able to rodeo and experience more than I ever imagined, and I’ve been able to create more long term collateral through nonliquid assets. I can still cook great meals, even though I do definitely miss an oven😅 I’ve been able to give my girls a life of adventure and so many new smells and friends along the way.
It may be unconventional but if I can talk one person into the benefits of all that living in an lq has brought me, they may not understand, and thats okay, but all the memories made and goals achieved has made it beyond worth it. It’s not forever, but I definitely know sometime down the line I’ll look back on all the memories I made in here and miss it. So, don’t be afraid to live in an lq or somewhere unconventional, the doors it’s opened and views I’ve been blessed to experience have made it so worth it🫶🏼

Will always be grateful for my big grey🫶🏼

Feature:

Everyone meet Justa Splash, a fifteen-year-old gelding bred by Farm III Enterprises LLC and Off The Hook Partners LLC in Florida. He is by multiple graded stakes winner Harlan’s Holiday and out of Tinca’s Song, by Unbridled’s Song. His pedigree also includes Harlan, Affirmed, Unbridled and Storm Cat. He sold for $110,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and for $410,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. He went on to make 25 starts, win five races, and earn $50,527 on the track. His five wins were at Golden Gate and Arapahoe.

“Splash” made his final start in 2016 and is now owned by Emma DeGrasse. Emma retrained Splash for barrel racing. He was her mount for three seasons of college rodeo in the Central Plains Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. They’ve also competed in the Kansas Professional Rodeo Association and have won Extreme Bull Riding Tour stops with the Double S Bull Company. In addition to barrel racing, Splash has also worked sale barns, pushed cattle, pasture roped and drug calves. Emma says that he’s a great all-around asset to her program.

You can follow Emma and the work she does at Em’s Equine Therapy on Facebook.

Just a little post to show off Ol Jett baby… man, good horse need a good foundation, but it’s the hands surrounding them that shape them. Grateful to have done good with this one🫶🏼

Florida has been good to Jett that’s for sure
🤩🤩

While equine therapy can for sure help get and keep them on the right track physically, nothing is as good as proper nutrition and all horses are different! While striving to be the best horsemen we can be, never forget to be humble in recognizing learning never stops, and there’s always more than one way to skin a cat in nutrition, training, and well, life.
Now excuse me while I enjoy a rainy Florida Sunday 🥱🫶🏼

Grateful Cooke and Cooke gave me the opportunity to work on some of their amazing ottbs and show horses🫶🏼
Fourty made me stretch for it for sure🤣
But this kiddo in particular, Roaring Fourties, has been an amazing lead pony for us, but has gotten a bit sore in his poll, C4, and ribs, making it hard for him to move out properly. But, boy is gonna get a few days off and should come back swinging better than ever. Had many great adjustments and freed up super easily, made his buddy Golden want a peace of the attention😅

Ol Jett baby, the girls and I have settled into Florida better than I’d care to admit😅 Beyond grateful for all of the amazing people I’ve been lucky enough to meet, work for, and with in this short time.
I have a few days freed up if anyone in northern fl is wanting to get their horses feeling their best! Jett will for sure be getting a nice massage before we move farms to start him as a lead pony. Looking forward to helping your ponies feel their best, pm me for prices and to schedule an appointment!
