March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. One in 60 people you encounter may have a brain injury. Brain injuries are caused by a number of things, including: concussion, stroke, car crash, combat, drowning, overdose, and abuse.

Speech-language pathologists play a critical role in the recovery of a person with a traumatic brain injury (TBI), when the injury results in swallowing, speech, language, or cognitive impairments.
