Children don’t melt down in front of the people they fear.

They melt down in front of the people they trust.

The ones who feel safest.
The ones who stay.
The ones who don’t disappear when emotions get messy or inconvenient.

It doesn’t always feel like trust in the moment.
It can feel like defiance, disrespect, or being taken for granted.
It can feel like we’re the only ones getting the worst of it.

But often, what we’re really seeing is a child who has been holding it together all day, finally letting it out where it feels safest to do so.

Not because we’re the easiest target.
But because we’re the safest place. ❤️

Executive functioning skills play a critical role in how students plan, organize, manage time, regulate emotions, and follow through on learning tasks. When these skills are underdeveloped, students may continue to struggle academically and behaviorally, even when strong instruction and interventions are in place.

This conference brings together educators, families, and specialists to explore executive functioning from multiple perspectives, including the classroom, the home, and the learner’s lived experience. Through keynote learning and breakout sessions, participants will gain practical, real-world strategies they can apply immediately.

Children don’t learn communication
from lectures about respect.

They learn it from the way we speak to them.
The way we handle conflict.
The way we respond when things go wrong.

They notice whether we listen
or interrupt.
Whether we take responsibility
or shift the blame.
Whether we repair
or pretend nothing happened.

What we model becomes their blueprint
for how relationships work.

Not because we told them to behave that way,
but because it’s what they lived with every day.

So the question isn’t only
“Why won’t my child do this?”
Sometimes it’s
“What are they seeing from me?”

Because the most powerful lessons we teach,
are the ones we simply embody. ❤️

We often expect children to regulate emotions
we’re still learning how to manage ourselves.

We ask them to “calm down,”
to move on quickly,
to make sense of feelings that don’t yet have language.

But emotions don’t resolve through pressure.
They resolve through safety.

When a child knows there’s space to feel without being judged,
and support to make sense of what’s happening inside them,
something important happens.

Feelings move.
Clarity follows.
Trust deepens.

This doesn’t mean every emotion is acted on.
It means every emotion is acknowledged.

Children don’t need to be fixed on hard days.
They need to be met.

That’s how emotional resilience is built —
not by avoiding discomfort,
but by learning they don’t have to face it alone. ❤️
