CAPACares

CAPACares CAPACares provides services in three key areas: Counseling, Family Support Services, and Community Education.

Through CAPACares' comprehensive programs, we aim to promote healing from traumatic experiences, strengthen families, and create a safer Kansas City community for all. CAPACares provides individual and family counseling for adults and children who have experienced trauma. CAPACares' Healthy Families Jackson County (TM) program provides home visiting and family support services for pregnant moms and new parents with children up to age 3. We want to take a minute to brag on our Home Visiting team! Ellie, Mindy, and Alena are now endorsed by the Missouri Association for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (MOAIMH-EC) as Infant Family Specialists.

This endorsement signifies that Mindy, Alena, and Ellie have the skills and knowledge to help ensure the emotional development and well-being of the babies and young children they work with. This is done by empowering caregivers, educating them about the principles of mental health of their little ones and incorporating a relationship-based approach.

We couldn't be more proud of them! This endorsement is a reflection of their dedication, hard work, and excellence.

Congratulations Alena, Ellie, and Mindy!

We’ve had a blast at trunk or treats hosted by our friends at Fairmount, East Hills Village, and Friendship Village! Pictured are three interns dressed as Care Bears, three staff members dressed as a farmer and her plants, and three car trunks, one decorated with rainbows, one with popcorn in a movie theater theme, and one with a spooky ghost.

Today we're celebrating Clarisha's third CAPAversary! For three years, she's been an incredible part of the CAPACares family, bringing humor, honesty, and heart to all she does. As a therapist, she's passionate about helping her clients grow and isn't afraid to have hard conversations, always with care and compassion.

In her own words, "I’ve been provided opportunities to develop clinical supervision skills by supervising interns. I am also in the middle of a two-year Registered Play Therapy™ program paid for by CAPACares. I'm adding all the tools to my toolbox that I can."

We’re so grateful for Clarisha’s insight, laughter, and leadership. Colleagues shared, "Clarisha’s humor and wit make every staff event more fun!" and "I love the way Clarisha always looks at things from a different perspective!"

Here’s to many more years, Clarisha!

Today is the International Day of Care and Support, so it's the perfect time to talk about our Baskets of Hope holiday drive! This year, we're once again combining Baskets of Hope with Giving Tuesday, as both fall during the first week of December this year.

If you'd like to put together a basket of thoughtful things that foster family togetherness, now's your chance! Drop off will be the week of December 1-5.

The kids are always surprised and thrilled to receive their baskets, and our therapists have the best time "shopping" from the baskets we receive to get something that's the perfect fit for each one of their clients.
