We are honored to share that Brad Speaks was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library.

Public service and community involvement have long been central to Mr. Speaks’ life and work. Over the years, he has served alongside many dedicated individuals across a wide range of organizations. This new role is especially meaningful, not only because of the importance of presidential libraries nationwide, but because of what the Truman Library represents right here in our community.

President Harry S. Truman remains one of Independence’s most respected and recognizable figures. The opportunity to help preserve and promote his legacy, while supporting an institution of national significance in our hometown, is a true privilege.

Please join us in congratulating Brad on this well-deserved honor as he continues his commitment to serving the community.

Our Story

Since 1936, the team at Carson-Speaks Chapel has been serving the communities throughout Eastern Jackson County. This funeral home is family owned and boasts three generations of experience in the industry. All funeral services are provided, including everything from full funerals to simple cremations. Over the years, the company has expanded to include three funeral home locations and earned the #1 Best Funeral Home recognition in the Examiner newspaper. One of the benefits of choosing the Carson-Speaks Chapel is the unparalleled attention to quality and support. Families receive a personalized experience designed to create the perfect funeral services based on family traditions and culture. Call for immediate services if the need is unexpected. Or, reach out to schedule an appointment for preplanning support. Available funeral services include visitations, graveside services, memorials, funeral services, life celebrations, and more. The funeral home staff specializes in providing an experience that assists families in coping with the loss of a loved one in a positive, healthy way. Grief support and other services are offered before and after the funeral, ensuring that help is available when needed the most. The funeral home offers an on-site crematory to provide respectful cremation services that are close to home. Many people feel peace of mind knowing that the cremation can be completed without the need to send the loved one to another provider. All three funeral homes are designed to provide the most comfortable, beautiful environment to say goodbye to a loved one. Spacious parking lots are easy to access, making it simple for friends and family to pay their last respects. At the Carson-Speaks Chapel location, a new audio/visual system was recently installed, helping loved ones stay connected and share digital memories. For quality cremation and funeral support, talk to Carson-Speaks Chapel to learn about the services that are provided. These services are offered in all of the surrounding cities, including Independence, Raytown, Blue Springs, Kansas City, Buckner, Grain Valley, Oak Grove, Sugar Creek, Lee’s Summit, and Grandview.
