Porch Talk Saturday.
I rarely see ppl on the front porch anymore. The more disconnected we are from the basics, the further we drift away from our own spirit.
We rush through our days like nothing is worth slowing down for.
Our ancestors would look at everything we have now and wonder how we managed to become emptier while supposedly having so much more.

From one of my favorite follows on the gram!
This came up in a conversation the other day.
sums this up beautifully on why I don’t call my self a Yogi/yogini
Why I Do Not Call Myself A Yogi
“These days, many call themselves yogis or yoginis... but what does it truly mean?
In modern yoga, we mostly see these titles attached to physical ability, social media fame, or lifestyle choices.
l’ve even heard the terms ‘good’ and ‘bad’ yogi, and what makes someone one or the other.
But historically, the term represents something much deeper-an entire way of being.
A sadhak is someone actively engaged in the process of practicing yoga, striving toward self-realization but still on the path.
A yogi is someone who has realized the teachings of yoga in their life and lives in alignment with the highest principles of spiritual and mental mastery.
In essence, the sadhak walks the path, while the yogi becomes the path.
And while ultimately this path is about getting rid of all “labels”, I hope this post invites some reflection for you.”-wanderingmat

The best continuing education I have ever done in my time teaching yoga was becoming trauma informed.
Yoga, particularly through a trauma-informed lens, treats sexual assault as a deep violation of personal, physical, and energetic boundaries, offering a pathway for healing through safe, body-centered practices that restore agency and trust. It emphasizes Ahimsa (non-harming) and helps survivors release stored trauma in the body, rebuild self-compassion, and establish healthy, empowered boundaries.
“There is a conversation happening right now in every corner of the internet and we are getting the most important part wrong. We are so focused on the names, the politics, the spectacle, that we have forgotten to look at the person sitting right next to us who hasn’t said a word. This post is for them. For every survivor who has been white-knuckling their way through dinner table debates and group chat hot takes, feeling their body remember something their mind has spent years trying to file away.“

I have been active in the yoga community for many years, specifically the Independence yoga community and I am extremely excited and humble to have the opportunity to achieve my dream of Madison Pike Yoga. As I teacher and practitioner I strongly believe that everyone's journey is unique so I pride myself in providing an environment that is comfortable, welcoming and open to individuals of all levels- novice to seasoned practitioner.
Madison Pike Yoga studio is a space that is rich with history and provides a truly refreshing space for the practice of yoga. You will have the opportunity to converse over a cup of coffee or tea with fellow community members in our "Zen Den" before and after your practice. The studio will also have reading material that will not only help deepen your yoga practice, but also rekindle your mind and spirit.
I look forward to being a small part of your journey as you find balance and peace in all aspects- mind, body, & spirit. Come "Pose on the Pike" with members of our community!
